OVERVIEW

The Fulltone OCD-Obsessive Compulsive Drive-overdrive pedal packs classic OD tones into a compact pedal with simple, no-fuss operation. From heavy crunch rich with overtones and feedback to spanky cleans, the OCD delivers the sounds of a great tube amp, as sell as the same sensitivity and response to your playing style.

Along with standard Volume, Drive, and Tone controls, the OCD's HP/LP (High Peak/Low Peak) switch takes the pedal from a clean boost to manic, sustain-laden distortion. True bypass switching.

The Fulltone Story
Fulltone was founded in 1991 by Michael Fuller, a session guitarist, composer, performer, electronic tinkerer featured in Guitar Player magazine, and first place winner in their "Ultimate Guitarist Competition" Blues category. Fulltone pedals were born out of a love for music, tone, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, etc. Early on Fuller developed a love for fine vintage pedals, and his frustration at the inconsistencies and the often fragile nature of old gear drove him to start Fulltone. Rich, Fat-sounding TONE TOOLS with a reliable build quality is the goal. Fulltone effects carry a 5 year warranty and are built for (and by) musicians.

Fulltone use True Bypass switching (with L.E.D. status indicators) in all our pedals, whenever possible. Most other pedals have a buffered output that destroys the performance of most pedals that follow in the signal-chain. Fuller says don't be fooled by the claims of "Pure Bypass," "Hard Bypass"...etc. These are just catch phrases to divert your attention away from the fact that those pedals are not true-bypass. I designed and manufacture the Fulltone 3PDT , the world's only Super-Duty Triple-Pole Double-Throw footswitch

Fullertone manufactures their own custom potentiometers because what has been offered as "Industry Standard" has a 20% failure rate within 2 years is not acceptable to them.

All Fulltone pedals are handbuilt & tested at their shop in Southern California using full-sized top-notch components. In the Choralflange, a rather complex pedal as analog designs go, there are NO miniature surface mount chips, capacitors, or resistors. They have their wire custom-made, and it's 22 gauge copper stranded with no tin-coating, so it stays flexible over the years without breaking. You might not know or care about components, but you'll certainly hear the FAT, clean, warm results.

All the creamy, delicious overdrive of a classic tube amp.

I'm 62 years old, and have been playing guitar since I was 13. I now have a small recording studio, and getting the right sound is very important to me. Having gone through a host of pedals, I have found the OCD Overdrive to be a huge asset to my music. Being torn between the OCD and the Ibanez Tube screamer. Thanks to another guitar players advise, I purchased the OCD over the Tube Screamer. Did I make a mistake? If so, I can't hear what I'm missing. As others have written, this pedal will break up really well, regardless of which amp I use: Marshall JVM410H with JCM 800 Lead 1960 cab, Fender Twin Reverb 65 Reissue, Fender Deluxe 65 Reissue Reverb, Fender Blues Jr. NOS, & Vox AC15C1, this pedal sounds great on each amp. As you know these are all tube amps, and considered top notch. Not only is this a great sound live, it is also great when recording. Since I use a noise gate, if there is a problem with hiss I don't know about it. Am I missing something by not using the Ibanez Tube screamer? When looking at reviews, both pedals have a large number of fans. One thing I know for sure when it comes to your pedal board. If you don't have an overdrive you are missing out on the sound you can't get without one. Since my Marshall has 4 channels with two of them being very high in gain. I have no need for a pedal with heavy distortion. In addition, not being a heavy metal player, only you will have to play through this pedal to see if it is right for you. When using my Fender Twin,Deluxe Reverbs and Vox, you can get some great sounds. If you play classic rock, 60's & early 70's, Motown, light metal, country, and Gospel. I can't see how there can be a better overdrive pedal than this one. There may be others as good as the OCD Overdrive, but they want be better.

I took the OCD plunge after hearing nothing but great things about. I've had it 5 weeks and the verdict is -- what is the fuss about? It is not bad or junk but I certainly have better pedals. I like my Modtone hi gainer a lot better. I also like my Ibanaez Tube Screamer and Marshalll Guv'nor better.

As a result of having better pedals this is going off my pedal board.

I Played it with a model year 1977 Marshall 1959 SLP and an 80s JCM800. Not bad but I get better boost, better tones and more flexibility out of my other pedals. I really got this for the SLP and was disappointed for sure.

For the money this is hard to beat. Not intended for metal but can get very close.
Not as smooth or quiet as my Timmy dual but has more edge and half the price.
        A classic sound.

Comments about Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a cool overdrive to use with another distortion device and a clean gain device. The OCD can be on lightly all the time for rhythm and you can punch on another distortion for leads. The OCD is very gain reactive, so an upstream pure gain can bring on more overdrive as another sound choice. The 3 devices in combination are very versatile. You're always one stomp away from a great lead sound! My other distortion is an old boss sd-1. My clean gain is a carl martin compressor limiter(that I keep from compressing).

Comments about Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've used other overdrive and distortion pedals in the past, but I decided I wanted to add a pedal to my board that captured that overdriven Marshall sound, rather than a high-gain mayhem-type distortion. I'd heard that this pedal was great for overdriving tube amps, but I half expected this to fail at giving those Marshall tones.

I was pleasantly surprised, however, because the tone switch in this thing perfectly takes the clean channel on my Vox tube amp from a chimey, overdriven, sparkling tone to a tight, midrange-boosted Marshall tone. I was surprised by how well it worked. Furthermore, I have no complaints yet after a month or so, hence the 5-star rating.

Comments about Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Orange Rockerverb MKii combo 1x12 - sounds AMAZING! If you want a nice full overdrive that takes your amp tone and overdrives it without losing its character, with tweakability- get this! It would be cool if they would make the LP/HP toggle a second footswitch instead and tweak the pedal design to make it useful as a boost/lead, as the volume boost is quite extreme when going from LP to HP! I found myself turning the saturation/gain down and enjoying the tone with my telecaster thru this pedal. I don't really like the dirty channel on my orange since I got this thing, and I NEVER thought I would find any overdrive that would do that! This is the kind of pedal that allows use of a single channel amp, though I use my effects loop still for chorus, boost, etc. still. Fulltone is just amazing quality!

Comments about Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have had my eye on this pedal for a while and just recently picked up a used one on CL. This thing is the best, most versatile distortion pedal I have ever used. There is not a bad tone in this thing. It can go from a light ts808-style overdrive to full on metal distortion and everything in between and it all sounds amazing. It sounds awesome with any guitar on any amp on any setting. Killer tone for weeks and weeks and I am just blown away by this thing. Get a voltage doubler cord for your pedal power and run it on 18v. It seems really solidly made but if it ever conks out on me you can bet I will be on MF buying a new one within seconds. Believe the hype. Go buy one. Buy it now. Right now!

I play a lot of rootsy music: country, blues, old-school rock n roll and even some heavier really crunchy music. Until recently, my board had a Keeley-modded TS-9, which the OCD is replacing. I recently sat in at a friend's gig and he had an OCD on his board and I was knocked out by his tone. I've also seen them on many, many fine players' boards. I'm thrilled with it. I played a show this past weekend (Tele thru a '65 Princeton) and kept the OCD engaged for almost the whole show. I just used the guitar's volume to clean up the tone or kick it up for a lead. I loved the sound. After the show, a guy came up and started asking me a zillion questions about my rig and how I got my sound. There's not much chance you'll be disappointed by this pedal. Very well-made and justly famous sound quality.

I've owned this pedal for a little over a year and it has quickly become one of my most treasured effects. I run it at a little over 14 volts off a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+. This pedal REALLY comes alive when you run it at more than the typical 9v. The headroom is ridiculous and the overdrive is very sensitive to picking dynamics. I have it set on the High Powered mode, tone at 12 o'clock, and I'm pretty sure I've fooled people into thinking I was playing on a tube amp; it sounds that good. You can dial in light, warm overdrive all the way to raunchy distorted tones, with some sweet spots in between. Great pedal; buy it now.
