OVERVIEW

All the creamy, delicious overdrive of a classic tube amp.

The Fulltone OCD-Obsessive Compulsive Drive-overdrive pedal packs classic OD tones into a compact pedal with simple, no-fuss operation. From heavy crunch rich with overtones and feedback to spanky cleans, the OCD delivers the sounds of a great tube amp, as sell as the same sensitivity and response to your playing style.

Along with standard Volume, Drive, and Tone controls, the OCD's HP/LP (High Peak/Low Peak) switch takes the pedal from a clean boost to manic, sustain-laden distortion. True bypass switching.

The Fulltone Story
Fulltone was founded in 1991 by Michael Fuller, a session guitarist, composer, performer, electronic tinkerer featured in Guitar Player magazine, and first place winner in their "Ultimate Guitarist Competition" Blues category. Fulltone pedals were born out of a love for music, tone, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, etc. Early on Fuller developed a love for fine vintage pedals, and his frustration at the inconsistencies and the often fragile nature of old gear drove him to start Fulltone. Rich, Fat-sounding TONE TOOLS with a reliable build quality is the goal. Fulltone effects carry a 5 year warranty and are built for (and by) musicians.

Fulltone use True Bypass switching (with L.E.D. status indicators) in all our pedals, whenever possible. Most other pedals have a buffered output that destroys the performance of most pedals that follow in the signal-chain. Fuller says don't be fooled by the claims of "Pure Bypass," "Hard Bypass"...etc. These are just catch phrases to divert your attention away from the fact that those pedals are not true-bypass. I designed and manufacture the Fulltone 3PDT , the world's only Super-Duty Triple-Pole Double-Throw footswitch

Fullertone manufactures their own custom potentiometers because what has been offered as "Industry Standard" has a 20% failure rate within 2 years is not acceptable to them.

All Fulltone pedals are handbuilt & tested at their shop in Southern California using full-sized top-notch components. In the Choralflange, a rather complex pedal as analog designs go, there are NO miniature surface mount chips, capacitors, or resistors. They have their wire custom-made, and it's 22 gauge copper stranded with no tin-coating, so it stays flexible over the years without breaking. You might not know or care about components, but you'll certainly hear the FAT, clean, warm results.

I'm 62 years old, and have been playing guitar since I was 13. I now have a small recording studio, and getting the right sound is very important to me. Having gone through a host of pedals, I have found the OCD Overdrive to be a huge asset to my music. Being torn between the OCD and the Ibanez Tube screamer. Thanks to another guitar players advise, I purchased the OCD over the Tube Screamer. Did I make a mistake? If so, I can't hear what I'm missing. As others have written, this pedal will break up really well, regardless of which amp I use: Marshall JVM410H with JCM 800 Lead 1960 cab, Fender Twin Reverb 65 Reissue, Fender Deluxe 65 Reissue Reverb, Fender Blues Jr. NOS, & Vox AC15C1, this pedal sounds great on each amp. As you know these are all tube amps, and considered top notch. Not only is this a great sound live, it is also great when recording. Since I use a noise gate, if there is a problem with hiss I don't know about it. Am I missing something by not using the Ibanez Tube screamer? When looking at reviews, both pedals have a large number of fans. One thing I know for sure when it comes to your pedal board. If you don't have an overdrive you are missing out on the sound you can't get without one. Since my Marshall has 4 channels with two of them being very high in gain. I have no need for a pedal with heavy distortion. In addition, not being a heavy metal player, only you will have to play through this pedal to see if it is right for you. When using my Fender Twin,Deluxe Reverbs and Vox, you can get some great sounds. If you play classic rock, 60's & early 70's, Motown, light metal, country, and Gospel. I can't see how there can be a better overdrive pedal than this one. There may be others as good as the OCD Overdrive, but they want be better.

I took the OCD plunge after hearing nothing but great things about. I've had it 5 weeks and the verdict is -- what is the fuss about? It is not bad or junk but I certainly have better pedals. I like my Modtone hi gainer a lot better. I also like my Ibanaez Tube Screamer and Marshalll Guv'nor better.

As a result of having better pedals this is going off my pedal board.

I Played it with a model year 1977 Marshall 1959 SLP and an 80s JCM800. Not bad but I get better boost, better tones and more flexibility out of my other pedals. I really got this for the SLP and was disappointed for sure.

Comments about Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have not used the dirty channel on my Orange Rockerverb since I got this pedal. It takes the clean and adds transparent overdrive as little or as much as you may want. Like my soulbender, I cannot get a bad sound out of this pedal. I just picked up a second one. In my prior review, I said it would be cool if they would make the LP/HP toggle a second footswitch instead and tweak the pedal design to make it useful as a boost/lead, as the volume boost is quite extreme when going from LP to HP! Well, I am having one of my OCD pedals modified to change the toggle into a footswitch! Putting it into a larger enclosure, and if I can only have one pedal onstage, this one is it! Heavy duty handmade components with no overseas junk inside- the mod guys love what they see inside these pedals. The only thing they don't like is that there are no upgrades to do! GET THIS PEDAL- YOU MUST HAVE IT!

Comments about Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal lived up to the hype for me. I play a Les Paul and a Tele through a Twin Reverb, and I can't get a bad sound out of this pedal. The HP/LP switches gives you two pedals in one. It's very responsive to your volume knob and picking attack, and doesn't give you that Tube Screamer mids boost. You can turn the drive down and use it as a clean boost. The OCD is also great for gain stacking pedals. The only thing you have to watch out for is the volume. This bad boy has a TON of gain, so I keep the volume lower on this than on other OD's. I highly recommend this pedal.

This pedal is just what I needed to add more grit and crunch to the sound of my Gibson SG through a Fender Blues Deluxe! Right next to the OCD is my Tube Screamer to kick it up another notch for killer leads. What a combo! Buy this one for sure dude.

I've been using this mostly with my Orange's dirty channel (for punk/hard rock/metal tones) and it sounds fantastic! It's a nice boost for the gain on the amp and helps cut through very well without sounding unnatural. Great overdrive and very versatile.

Comments about Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a cool overdrive to use with another distortion device and a clean gain device. The OCD can be on lightly all the time for rhythm and you can punch on another distortion for leads. The OCD is very gain reactive, so an upstream pure gain can bring on more overdrive as another sound choice. The 3 devices in combination are very versatile. You're always one stomp away from a great lead sound! My other distortion is an old boss sd-1. My clean gain is a carl martin compressor limiter(that I keep from compressing).
