OVERVIEW

A salute to the rare and highly collectible "Super Tube Screamer" from the 1980s, the Maxon ST-9 Pro+ Super Tube distortion pedal takes the basic design elements of the coveted vintage model and brings them into the 21st century.

Loosely based on Maxon's classic "808" circuit, the ST-9 Pro+ distortion pedal offers a dedicated midrange control that varies the amount of midrange boost, creating powerful, fat, and heavy distortion sounds akin to a full-stack amplifier. A mode switch to select from two different diode types allows the user to fine-tune the Maxon ST-9 Pro+ effects pedal for use with single coils or humbuckers, while switchable 9V or 18V operation provides increased dynamic headroom and fuller frequency response.

When you're ready to step beyond the standard overdrive, the Maxon ST-9 Pro+ Super Tube distortion pedal is the only choice for the discerning overdrive connoisseur.

Versatile, powerful and responsive, the Maxon ST-9 is perfect for players looking to get more than just distortion out of their distortion pedal.

About Me Experienced

Comments about Maxon ST-9 Super Tube Pro Plus Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal from Nine Series:

It's not that great of a pedal. I use a Laney Iron Heart 60 watt head on a Ibanez saber tuned to B, and this pedal actually made my amp sound worse. I spent many, many hours jumping between the amp and the pedal and the amp won every time. Very disappointed. I'm not saying the Laney is the be all and end all of amps, but the Maxon did nothing to improve the sound/tone.

Comments about Maxon ST-9 Super Tube Pro Plus Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal from Nine Series:

I've always been a big fan of the 808 style pedals from Ibanez and Maxon but felt there was not enough features for true flexibility in the way they shape and color your tone. Well, this pedal is the answer to all my complaints and some! Mid Enhance control to boost or tame the infamous midrange bump, low boost mode to add back some bass these pedals usually cut or stay true to the original and keep it in classic mode. On top of all that, true bypass switching and 9/18v operation. TS fans will not be disappointed.

Comments about Maxon ST-9 Super Tube Pro Plus Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal from Nine Series:

Maxon claims this distortion pedal is more than just a dist pedal but does not substantiate this. If your 1/4" input substitutes for a backstage betty? With no more drive than a od = pro this really is not a distortion pedal at all. They have beaten me with confusion of the hyped and overpriced pedals and I've bought a few but they are really good at making my expensive tube amps sound thinner like solid state which is what this pedal is. It does not improve my tone. It does add a coat of varnishy fizz over the top. I bought it to try with my rigs but traded it off like most tone gizmos'.
