OVERVIEW

To a discerning and devoted league of tone chasers, Brian Wampler is The King when it comes to organic, convincing and inspiring dirt tones. Thus, Wampler thought it only fitting to name Brian's latest pedal-a simple distortion pedal-The Sovereign.

A little presumptuous, you might say? Wampler thinks this is a pedal that lives up to its name. From cream to ream, thrash to powder puff, hellacious burn to heavenly soothe, The Sovereign will do it for you. Truly.

You see, Brian was asked by a very convincing and influential client (whom we shall name later) to make a "simple distortion pedal." Think for a moment about the amazing distortion pedals Brian has already given us: The Plexi series, the SLOstortion, the ubiquitous Pinnacle and others. How could he top those?

For starters, The Sovereign does not pretend to be another (with all due respect) "A.I.A.B" (amp-in-a-box, for the uninitiated). This beast has its own thing going on. It has a mid control that is admittedly borrowed from other great Wampler pedals like The Pinnacle, but this one is refined, less fussy and instantly gratifying over the full range of its sweep. Seriously rich mids are to be found here, able to cut through the din of the bass and drums in an instant. Smooth, creamy highs-think stainless steel wings on your soaring solos-are a mere flick of a toggle away. The bottom end is tight but with just the right amount of sag to simulate a good tube amp going into orgasmic throes of heat.

A distortion pedal for those who refuse to settle when it comes to tone.

Get the Wampler Soverign pedal now and experience simple, pure distortion at its finest.

Knobs and switches really work well. Multiple sounds can be obtained. Works well with your amp. Plays well with your guitar, humbucker, soap bar or single coil pickups etc. Overdrive and distortions are organic sounding. Can emulate boutique pedals costing alot more. I A&B quite a few of my boutique pedals costing $200 and up and it emulatd them extremely close. Almost unbelievable. Good quality components such as resistors, capacitors, diode, switches etc. This pedal is a must have for the serious musician. This is not a one trick pony. This pedal can be a real treat if you are not happy with your lead channel of your amp. It can be your go to lead pedal or rythm as well. Excellent for Soft Rock, Hard Rock, Blues and some Metal. Very happy with this. Brian Wampler has a great ear for vintage and modern sounds.

Comments about Wampler Sovereign Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I really wish I would have tried this thing before the hundreds of other amps and pedals I've gone through haha. It's really great. It sounds like I wish my Marshall sounded. Seriously, it's awesome. Easily worth the price tag. The low end is big but not muddy, the top end is clear but not shrill (unless you max the tone knob), and the mids are completely adjustable to preference. Love it, love it, love it :3

Comments about Wampler Sovereign Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've been through numerous other distortion pedals. Considering what they cost, that's a lot of money to spend in the weeding-out process. Up until now, I had always felt as if I was "settling" for a pedal that "would do" until I could find something better.
I have not found a bad setting in the Sovereign. The tonal sweep is outstanding and allows this pedal to take on absolutely distinctly different identities. It's so harmonically rich and amp-like, it's crazy.

I'm so glad I found the Wampler.

Do yourself a favor; spend a little extra for this pedal.
      You won't be sorry.

Comments about Wampler Sovereign Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Best distortion pedal I have found yet. I've gone through many over the years "chasing tone" and this has got to be the most versatile, best sounding distortion pedal I've ever heard and played through. You can get any kind of distortion sound out of it that you want. Everything from marshall and mesa to fender and peavey. Very organic and sounds brilliant through tube amps. Plenty of gain on tap for any style. Sounds crisp without having an ice pick sound like many other overdrive and distortion pedals do and can even get some decent fuzz out of it as well. At first I thought I had a defective pedal as the sound would get squashed hitting a hard chord or note but found that it was because I had placed it after a buffered pedal. Once I switched the pedals it no longer over compresses the signal. Just thought I would mention that if anyone is experiencing the same problem I had at first. You won't be disappointed getting this and will likely never need to buy another distortion pedal again!

Comments about Wampler Sovereign Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Everything is said about this pedal. It just sounds so good. So versatile. I mean, it's not easy to find a bad sound in this box. Just get it and rock. Controls are very powerful. It may be the King of all Distortion/Overdrive sounds in a pedal.

This pedal rocks! I've been playing for many years. I play a Strat and a PRS through a Marshall and perform in a rock band. While the Marshall is great for most classic rock overdrive this pedal really sings when you want that more modern chunking mid scoop sound. Very versatile controls get you a wide range of distortion. This pedal is the best distortion pedal I've ever used!

Comments about Wampler Sovereign Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'm very skeptical of pedals that run for 200 or more, but when I think of how much time and money I've spent looking for a distortion that functions like the Sovereign, the price makes perfect sense.

First of all, there is a really good balance of gain, sustain and noise control on this pedal. With many other dirt pedals, to get a singing sustain you'd have to turn up the gain to a point where it may start to sound muddy, fuzzy and noisy. That is not the kind of dynamics you hear on your favorite recordings. As you turn up the gain, it will sound bigger, heavier but will retain a pretty tight attack.

The key to making this pedal work best is working with all of the options, including the two toggles (BRIGHT / EVEN) and (BOOST / STANDARD). Using these wisely will give you access to a variety of dirt sounds. I literally found a JCM style grind (Guns N' Roses, Rage Against the Machine), lightly overdriven hard rock crunch (Who's Next, "The Seeker") and smooth blues (John Mayer, Stevie Ray) all within a few minutes of fooling around with the toggles and my guitar's volume knob. This pedal also cleans up remarkably well, even on the boost mode.

This is one of those desert island stompboxes. I now understand the hype behind Wampler pedals. This little thing really is a piece of genius.

Comments about Wampler Sovereign Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal sounds great. I love that it is not trying to recreate an amp tone or be a remake of some old circuit design. It is just a straight forward, great sounding modern distortion. Just what I was hoping for.

Comments about Wampler Sovereign Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a great pedal if you like the tone. Pretty easy to get a great Angus Young, kind of metal/nasal tone if that makes sense. I returned mine not because I liked the tone on my Mesa Express 5:50 better (which I did, but hey that's just taste), but because I'm not a terrific tap dancer and I was always afraid while playing that I'd inadvertently whack my volume knob when switching this bad boy on and off - switching it on and kicking the volume button accidentally at the same time = sudden death. I prefer, if the gizmo has two rows of controls, that a non-critical button, like tone, be near my toe when I'm kicking around down there.
