Our contest has ended and the winners of our Brian Setzer Orchestra's Boogie Woogie Christmas have been chosen! Congratulations go out to all of our winners. The Grand Prize Winner is Leon Oehlers of Luling, Texas. Here is what he had to say about being chosen as the Grand Prize Winner:
"Simply Astounding. These two words sum up my reaction when I received the call from Steve Read at Musician's Friend. Many, many
thanks to all at Musician's Friend. Receiving the Setzer Signature Model Gretsch guitar ... well, it was a dream come true. When
the guitar arrived it was truly a sight to behold. After a couple of days set-up, we started jamming at rehearsal ... what a smooth
sound. Next ... we start recording this fine instrument. I grew up playing country/rockabilly/rock and jazz music since age eleven
years (45 years total) in the Texas dancehalls, clubs and concerts and having the opportunity to see the Brian Setzer Orchestra
in concert at the Chicago House of Blues ... well, it is amazing as well as astounding. I have been a great fan of Setzer's music
since 1981 and consider him one of the true music geniuses in the music industry today, His album '68 Comeback Special - Ignition
is one of the premier recordings in my music (vinyl and CD) collection ... to say I am excited about attending the concert and
meeting Brian and possibly Bernie Dresel (Brian's drummer) is a true under-statement."
"Musican's Friend has always been my prime equipment source for my recording studio and percussion gear. They have provided
excellent service and, best of all, always provide expert consultation, support and pricing. The service consultants have
never given me bad advice or service. They will continue to be my source in the future. To receive the Setzer model guitar
and the trip to Chicago concert is "icing on this old roadhog's cake". On the Excitement Scale of 1 to 10 ... well, I'm setting
on 11. Thanks and my sincerest appreciation to all at Musician's Friend for making this possible. You're truly this "musician's
best friend". Now, on to Chicago to kick out the jams and rock the house."
Leon said all that before he went to Chicago and got to meet Brian! Check out what he had to say about his prize after he came back. Read his interview here.
