Okay all, I have owned one of the old versions of this, and they have improved it significantly with their new model [the one with the bare metal foot plates, not the black ones].

First off, please let me state that this is probably the best double pedal out there in my estimation.

It's low in price, adjusts very good [The new spring nuts lock, which takes away some of the adjustability, but if you know how to adjust the cams and the beater distance it's no biggie], and plays smooth. I can confidently play along with some of the fastest musicians out there on this pedal and keep up with them. However, I had to adjust it right, and it takes a little bit of previous knowledge: The TWO main adjustments are beater distance and foot pedal hight. To adjust beater distance, you can actually do it by loosening the spring joing [on top of spring, use drum key it's right on top] and the cams should just adjust by hand power. For the Pedal hight, the slave pedal is adjustable by hand so long as you loosen it from the connecting rod. Now, the main side is tricky because for some reason Tama welded the cam and the holder TOGETHER [which is why I lowered the rating a little bit] so if you want a high pedal and close beater, you might have to take some links out of the chain [on the new cam it's also a drum key, I'm unsure of the old model].

Other than that though, awesome stuff, but please read on:

Even the MOST EXPENSIVE double Pedals I've played STILL don't have the "two bass drum feel." If you are looking to spend a lot on a double pedal, I recommend just getting another bass drum and using two singles, because you will most likely have a better feel and flow that way and it will be cheaper. I've played for the Apostolic church many a time, as well as many other large gigs [up to 5,000 people, usually about 100-300 people] and this pedal hasn't ever given me gig problems. Other models have [DW Cheaper stuff is not recommended by me].

This is a very heavy pedal with some flimsy parts, (very disappointing because all my other experiences with Tama have been excellent). Overall it's ok, I'd save up for some higher end pedals though. You can definitely tell it's a low end pedal
This pedal is WAY too heavy for me at least, if you want a heavier pedal this is the one for you
The screws on the slave pedal stripped within days, and I played it twice. The single chain is kind of flimsy, but holds up alright. The base plates are heavy duty and ready for battle! Everything else seems ok, just not what I expected from Tama.
For what it is, I can't help but feel I paid too much

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Jr. Twin Bass Drum Pedal:

I bought this not having tried one out in person, but based upon Musician's Friend reviews, other reviews and the Tama brand name. I found it easy to assemble and adjust, and am impressed with its responsiveness even while playing at low volume levels. I recommend this pedal to any drummer at any playing level...I assure you won't regret buying it!

Good, Solid Pedals!

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Jr. Twin Bass Drum Pedal:

Should be a 10, but I wish the foot boards were a little longer. I have a size 12 foot, and I am having to re-learn the heel/toe method. *Note to TAMA, please make the same model but hinge the footboard at the back, and lose the heel plate... please.
Powerglide cam is awesome! Would rate higher if it shipped with the Cobra Coil, but truthfully I dont need it, these are really responsive. Super easy to adjust spring tension and beater angle.
Solid! Had a squeak out of the box that I was going to try to oil, but it went away about 30 minutes into use.
Cant afford the original Iron Cobras? Get these! They are almost as good and 10 times a better value!

Lots of Fun But With A Fatal Flaw

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Jr. Twin Bass Drum Pedal:

Let me start by saying that I LOVE this pedal. It does it all in terms of double bass pedals. I played drums with a single pedal for three years before deciding to dive in. This thing is perfect for a beginner... or at least it would be.My first problem with this pedal was that the screws holding the rod for the left pedal continually kept coming loose. Then I had to stop what I was doing, unscrew everything to readjust it, and then re-tighten correctly. When that got tightened, the screw to the spring came loose. When I readjusted and tightened that, the screw connecting the rod to the left pedal came loose. And so on. This may have been a personal fault but why do they come loose so easily? And this was happening daily. Withing a minute of readjustment and tightening something else came loose. Oh, and one of the screws broke after a week. One of the length adjustment screws on the rod, so it didn't really affect playing but it was annoying and made the thing seem poorly made. After that, I had no problems with the pedal for about two months, and I had absolutely no regrets about buying it. I only used it about 4-5 times a week for maybe 30 minutes to an hour so I didn't expect any problems after the initial. So two months into playing the rod fell out during a session. I put it back in and tightened it and it happened again. One the same day. With examination, I found that the grooves in the piece connecting the left pedal to the rod was wearing away. It was stripping with less-than-regular use! So in short this thing is either not tight enough or stripping the connectors. Pick your poison. Why!? This is such a good pedal. So much fun, looks well made, from a respected brand no less! Save your money or look somewhere else if you are a beginner and don't know much about pedals.

Disability

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Jr. Twin Bass Drum Pedal:

The double bass petal is alright, but nothing worth the value. I play heavy metal that corresponds to artists like Job for a Cowboy and Bullet for my Valentine. I suspected the single-chain iron cobra would hold up, but I was sadly mistaken. Once I tightly put the screws in, over time of not having the extra (double chain) support, that placed a lot of tension on the screws holding the connector rod between the petals. My screw holding the left petal connector warped and gave away, and I had to get a new screw. This was minor. I started playing, and the left kick again began to malfunction. The metal piece below the petal began to make contact with the petal and produced a clicking noise. The petal was at a substantial height when it was aligned with the right one, but the pressure begins to cause the petals to give way their height, and they begin to slink down. As a result, it becomes increasingly difficult to raise them again, especially with all the original pieces which I didn't have. If you're looking to REALLY get into drumming, spend some money. It won't hurt you in the end. Buying drum equipment is tricky because you need to understand value and reliability, something I underestimated about the tama iron cobra unfortunately.

These pedals are best suited for beginners. You can't reach very fast bpm with these. They're too heavy. Once venturing into metal with sustaining double bass, or metalcore, with fast spurs of double bass, these pedals are not reliable.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Jr. Twin Bass Drum Pedal:

Great pedal for beginners, and those who want to get into double bass for the first time. Very solid pedal, don't be concerned about the single chain. This thing will hold up. If you want to experiment with double bass def. get this pedal. Do not waste your money on the cheap SP double pedal. It is junk. This pedal is literally 1000x better.

However, my biggest complaint is that there is no independent foot pedal height adjustment. The foot pedal and beater are inseparable, so if you want a higher or lower pedal, you must change the beater angle. You can take links out of the chain, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle and risk ruining my chains. I really like a steep pedal, but it was unattainable with this pedal bc I have to pull the pedals back to my shins to get there.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Jr. Twin Bass Drum Pedal:

Okay, first off, this pedal is absolutely amazing for the price. This is simply the best pedal you can buy if you're on budget and can't afford the more expensive pedals. As for how they play, I really like them and they're definitely an upgrade from my last pedal, but I wish they produced a kick with a heavier, smoother feeling stroke. I love these pedals, but personally, I wish I would've saved up for the full sized Iron Cobras because I have also played on those and think they feel much better. Overall, awesome pedals, but the full size has an advantage if you want your kicks to feel smoother and easier. I can tell you from experience, I get both more speed and power from the full sized Iron Cobras.

I got these pedals this past week. I was really pumped when I saw how much leverage they had off of the ground, so as soon as I saw that I knew these were going to be good pedals. I most likely wont ever upgrade, because I had a a past drummer in my band that had the regular Iron cobra's, and I don't know if it was the way he had them, or what, but they really sucked! You can get a lot of bounce of these making in for some good speed. This is a must get product!

Ok, I bought these for my son who is an inspiring percussionist. Anyway, I took them for a little test drive. I have owned axis, pearl, and other double pedals so I know about double pedals. Anyway, I believe these are a great way to begin a foray into double pedal technique. For the price, you can get great Tama quality that totally outdoes other cheap pedals. Not alot of adjustments on them but there is enough to set it up the way you like. Kinda clunky beaters though, buy some pearl double sided and your good to go.
