I have owned my CAD mics for just over a year and they still sound great... For anyone that's used them and said they aren't good or they sound cheap, I suggest you hire a sound man that knows how to adjust your sound you need help... These mics hold up to any brand that cost 3X as much... If they are clipping when your playing you have the gain to high.

Keep in mind buying any set of drum mics is only the beginning to this endeavor... You will need a good set of cables to plug these things into your sound source... You will also need a sound source including a sound board...
I use a smaller micro board that sits behind my drum kit. All the mics are plugged into it so I can control what every mic is picking up and see if any of them are clipping... This micro board is then linked to a house PA... One quality cable does it all if your plugged in to a house PA at a club...
This 4 pack mic includes sturdy clips that mount to each drum rim... Very sturdy mounting and very pronounced diaphragms in each mic.

I have experimented with placement and found them to sound differently when they are directly aimed at the drum head vs angled... If you angle them they actually pick up a wider field of the drums and background ie: other instruments next to the drums.

Bass drum mic is excellent. I'm using it inside a 26" X 18" mahogany bass drum... I have it installed inside the drum using a mounted mic stand attached to one of the drum spurs. The mic is suspended using a stand and centered in the middle of the drum facing the batter but backed off and not close to the batter head...The sound is amazing, giving a VERY deep thud with no signs of clipping,

Snare drum mic is excellent. I'm using it inside a 14" X 7.5" maple snare drum. I have it installed facing directly downward not angled. It's picks up every sound crisp and clear...

Tom mics are also excellent and very articulate. My kit is a mahogany kit. One 13"X 10" tom and two floor toms sizes 16" X 20" and 18" X 20" ...I use one tom mic mounted at the top of the tom and angle it. The other tom mic is mounted to the smaller floor tom and also angled...I found that an angle set up with just the two tom mics allows the other parts of the kit to be picked up through the PA...
Heavy duty clamps...Very sturdy once they are positioned. Mine have been hit accidentally during playing and have never come loose or fallen off...Cone metal grill covers are a plus especially if they are dropped or hit.

Diaphragms inside the mics are very articulate they seem to do the job clearly...
I bought these mics because of the price. I think I made the right choice buying them vs paying more for another brand name...These hold up to any higher priced mic on the market.

Over all great value and I would recommend them to anyone looking to mic up their drum kit. The price is very fair and worth buying them hands down.

I ended up returning these mics. They sounded good at sound check but were extremely difficult to get mounted. The mounts were only adjustable along one axis. The mics kept falling off during the course of the set. They would work great if the mounts were removed and stands were used, but I wanted to haul the least amount of gear possible.
The mounts were not very adaptable. They did not hold the mics through the entire set..
The mics had good quality sound.
Good value for the price but you get what you pay for.

Comments about CAD PRO-4 Drum Microphone Kit (4-Piece):

Great little set for the money. I only occasionally need a set of drum mics so I wasn't dropping any substantial cash for a set. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound considering the purchase price.

Good 4 piece Starter Set

Comments about CAD PRO-4 Drum Microphone Kit (4-Piece):

I use this set along with 2 overheads, a single vocal mic on the kick and another ribbon directly above the kit. I put this 4 piece set on the snare, 2 rack toms and the bigger one on the floor tom. The sound is coming together. Sound treatment of the room will help the OH's but as for these mics, they give me good tracks to work with. For the price they're great.

Great sound. Only con is the mounting hardware. Not versitale enough for some Drum kits. Placing the mics on the bottom rings instead solves the mounting issue but sacrifices sound quality.

Comments about CAD PRO-4 Drum Microphone Kit (4-Piece):

I record all of my music from my bedroom, and I didn't have a huge budget for drum mics. I couldn't resist this package (since I already had overheads laying around), so I bought them. Here's a quick overview of some things to know before buying:

SETUP: Setting them up is a breeze, the snare and tom mics have rubber strips that latch onto the rims, and you can tighten up their grip. Just make sure you screw it in pretty tight, because depending on the gap between rim and head, you have to make sure they get a firm grip. However, in my case, they stayed put despite some heavy hitting.

DURABILITY: These are very durable too. Occasionally, one of my drummers will hit the mic with his stick by accident, but these still sound just as great as the first use.

SOUND: You definitely will need to mess around with the EQ settings on your mixer or DAW, probably more than a more professional, expensive set, but with some time you can get them sounding pretty good. My recommendation is to get your overheads alone sounding perfect, then introducing these mics into the mix one-by-one. I find that the snare mic is the star in this package, as it really captures the "fatness" of the drum. This mic combined with the overhead really gets a great sound. The toms can be a little tricker to get sounding good, but I find that a small boost in the low end and a cut in the mids around 400Hz does the trick. For my room, this is where the ugly "boxy" sound of my drums was present, so a cut there did wonders to the sound. As for the kick, you will have to experiment with how you place it. Too far out of the porthole and you will get nothing but a dull "thud," so definitely make sure you place it inside the drum to capture the "attack" from the beater. A boost in the lows here will help too.

OVERALL: These are a really great bang for the buck. They do require some time just hitting the drums and working with the EQs to get the sound you want, but they will get there in time. Make sure your drums are sounding great in the room BEFORE you attempt to mic them, and they will be great! Just a note: you will need to grab a small mic stand for the kick mic if you don't already have one, and make sure to have plenty of mic cables! Thanks for reading.

Comments about CAD PRO-4 Drum Microphone Kit (4-Piece):

Really good mic set. With careful placement and good soundboard personnel, these will mic up an eight-piece set.
The adjusters have limited placement, and the rim clamps aren't the best, but overall this kit is well worth price.
The worst part of purchasing this kit was Musician's Friend can't seem to get the shipping address correctly, so beware if you order here.

The microphone set is just what I expected. All you need is a short stand for the base drum and your ready to record your drum set. The rim clamps for the snare and toms work well and stay put.

Great functional mics for the price! They will require some extra equalization, as the frequency response is a little odd. Not the most professional mics, but you can't beat 'em for the price! If you have an extra $300+, you may want to spring for the Sure set, but I'm very happy with these.
