What more could you ask for in a drum micing kit? I used the mic's in the package on my toms, and kick, and dropped a 57 on the snare. I also picked up some MXL 993's for overheads... seriously can't complain. The durablity is amazing, the clips that come with the set are a plus as well as strong, and the sound of the mic's themself is satisfying. I'm not much of a drummer, I'm an engineer, but from what I hear on these puppy's I'm very happy. I EQ'd mine a smidge to drop out the upper range frequencies where needed and the lower frequencies so I could clean up my recordings a bit, panned them out and let them ride. If you aren't aware Shure's PG line is the same as their SM line, only the PG's are made in Korea. Same mic guts, the only reason you pay less is because shure pays less for them to be assembeled. Get this kit or save up a little more and get the 6 piece. The only reason I jumped on these as quick as i did was because they were used at a guitar center I drop into from time to time and snagged them for cheap. Even still I would have bought them sooner if I would've known how great they sounded.

The Shure PG series of microphones is for those who need a mic just to get sound in. Don't get me wrong, I love Shure mics, they are virtually indestructable and have great sound, but with mics you usually get what you pay for. These mics lack depth, fullness, and just plain volume. The also pick up alot of stage noise and bleed if you do not have a good noise gate setup. The only reason I would buy this set is as my very first mic set on a limited budget to satisfy amatuer recording needs. Their only saving grace is that they will not break! I know because I have thrown them across the stage in fury because of their sound!Do yourself a favor if your serious about recording or live sound- save up and get Shure's mic kit with the 3 SM57s and a Beta 52. If you have the money, some good Sennheiser Mics or Audix Mics are the best for sound, especially if your recording.

      Amazing

      By David Thompson

Comments about Shure PG 4-Piece Drum Microphone Package:

First off I want to say is Wow. Even though I just got these yesterday, just wow.

Although I didn't buy these off of musiciansfriend because I found them on Ebay cheaper, new and with 15ft microphone cables... But anyways, these are wondering microphones, the bass drum mic is amazing, it captures the low-end "punch" (which I love) and all of the other mics are amazing too... The rim mounts are very sturdy... Thanks Shure :-)

      Very Good Mics

Comments about Shure PG 4-Piece Drum Microphone Package:

I Got these mics for xmas a couple of years ago and they sounds really good!! i run them through a behringer xenyx 2222fx into adobe audition and they sound great!! However i did recently purchase a shure sm57 for the snare. This is a great mic package for all drummers that are semi serious about recording there drums and getting good results!!

Easy to use, decent sound reproduction for the money. Durability hasn't been a problem thus far - they are built like small tanks and withstand my rugged use well.

      These are Excellent

Comments about Shure PG 4-Piece Drum Microphone Package:

I just recently purchased this kit, and started recording with my band, and it is AMAZING! I barley have to put any EQ on them to get a great sound (given the terrible heads I have on right now)because I've got a bigger set up though, I have the three included tom/snare mics on my three rack toms, with a SM57 on my snare, and a Senhiser Silver mic on my floor toms, and I'm really happy with the sound I'm getting.

      Stellar

      By DrummerboyPT

Comments about Shure PG 4-Piece Drum Microphone Package:

This mics are incredible. They're comming from the best microphone company in the world, SHURE. You can't go wrong with shure mics. The sound quality of these mics is absolutely incredible. The clips are easy to get on and off and allow you to set the mic in any position. This set even comes with free XLR cables. I have played live and recorded with these mics and have never experienced ANY cracking or popping. that doesn't come from the mic itself. that's all in the mixing and placement of the mics. Brilliant clear tom sound, broad range captures all the attack, punch and sustain of the snare and toms. The bass has great punch and boom that will take your breath away. Shure is the way to go that's why they've been trusted by drummers such as Chad Smith (red hot chili peppers) and Jose Pasillas(Incubus). I would say if you DO have the extra bucks, go with the ShurePG 6 piece and get a set of condenser mics for your cymbals.

      I'm Sure -- These Shure's Rock

      By RG-yoYmH

      from Knightstown, IN

Comments about Shure PG 4-Piece Drum Microphone Package:

These microphones are quite the deal for the price. I'm using them on my MBOX at the moment until I get back home to my studio. On a ported bass drum head, put the mic slightly at an angle in the port facing your beater and your good to go. It sounds good with no equalization at all. As far as the guy with the cracks and pops... it sounds like he has a gain staging problem.

      Mediocre

      By Mexican Raindance

      from Milford, OH

Comments about Shure PG 4-Piece Drum Microphone Package:

These mics are decent for the price. We bought these for our home studio and I would say that these are definitely geared for live drumming, hence the durability of them. I could imagine these would hold up very well in rugged touring situations. The hard shell case protects well also. The kick drum mic I think is good for micing bass amps (there is worse and there is better). But if I could go back, I probably would have saved my money and bought some used sennheiser 421s, an AKG D112, and a sm57.

      best bang for the buck

      By unwanted

      from Cheyenne, wy

Comments about Shure PG 4-Piece Drum Microphone Package:

Although you have to buy separate condenser mics, this product is well worth the money. the tom mics can be used for cab mics and the bass mike is awesome on a bass cab. for drums they are great. the clips are sturdy and are out of your way. if you have the bucks, the higher end kits are obviously better. as far as sound quality, you shoud just throw your comparably priced nady's in the dumpster. shure's quality is way better.
