Ideal for toms, snares, and hand percussion.
The Audix f10 Drum Microphone is distinguished by its dynamic transducer design. Tailored frequency response provides upper midrange attack and clarity (50Hz-12kHz). The extended low end response reproduces fat, punchy sounds. Cardioid polar pattern. Die-cast zinc housing. The f10 microphone is built tough with the sound quality required for studio use.

Being a studio drum tech, I've personally tested many different mics on drums. The most expensive mics out there sound like crap unless you position them properly, and of course TUNE the drum properly! I was shocked to hear how nice this mic sounded on toms, specially 8" to 13" toms. 15" or larger did better with the f12. Anyway I'll keep this short... I would use this mic (and have) on any studio recording, major label, or indie! The d-series 'does' sound better (faster) but if you're willing to take a bit longer getting the sound then I suggest the fusion series for toms, NOT snare, NOT kick...toms only. hard to beat the quality for the buck!
I highly recommend this mic. I purchased this mic about 8 months ago and have used it almost every weekend since. I have been using this on my snare drum in many situations and I am VERY pleased with it's performance. I give it an A+ in my class as well as any other Audix mic. Can't go wrong here.
The world of easy to use get in close tom mics is small, and the Audix F-10 belongs at the head of this class. Great sound, great rejection of of axis noise, ease of use with built in angle attachment. A winner.
