I would break a stick about almost every show and practice, costing about 8 bucks every time I play. One pair has lasted about 2 years, with just changing the cover and a few tips. They save you alot of money, you get used to the feel of them and won't go back to wood. I recommend 2 sets for live players, tips can eventually crack or come loose and fly off over time and I have broken one stick in half doing very hard rim shots. I also ruined the threads on one not noticing the tip came off right away playing live, so if the tips breaks live flip the stick to the butt end and finish the song with  it or grab another stick while playing. No tip on it will also kill your heads. I also check tips to make sure they are not coming un-tightened between breaks to be safe, which doesn't happen often at all unless its a 3 hour jam

Sticks Last Forever - Cymbals & Heads Don't!

Yes, these Sticks will Last Forever!  Replace the plastic parts about once a year for standard practicing and gigging. BUT over time they cut through Cymbals & Heads like they were butter!!!  Sticks are too long and heavy, so you loose bounce and too much vibration causes sore hands! I loved the Ahead Sticks at first!  Finally a stick that lasts for years with no breaing or splitering.  After a month Evans and Remo Heads were gone! Only Aquarian Performance II Heads will take the beating!  After a year started cutting through Zildjian Cymbals, and denting Sabians. I've played for 25 years on High School Drumlines, All-Region Honor Band, my College Drumline, and in Rock/Metal/Punk/Grunge Bands.  I have proper technique, and I'm not a heavy hitter. Sticks that last forever seemed great, but not worth it when they start ruining more expensive Cymbals and Heads! I recommend trying: ProMark White Oak, or Aquarian X-10 Graphite!!!!

I bought these the other day and tried them out. These are the best sticks I have ever used! The are loud and the sound they produce is clearer than any thing I have used. I would recommend these sticks even if you are not a fan of Metallica. The price is a little steep but it's really an investment into your playing.

Ahead Lars Ulrich Drumsticks Review

Im a HUGE Metallica fan; I've been listening to their music for a long time and they inspired me to play drums. Thats why when I bought my drum kit I thought I should get these, and I'll never regret getting them. 1)These sticks will NEVER break. Perfect for hard hitters. Ive used many woodsticks and I'd break a pair every week. These, been using them for 4 months of hard hitting on cymbals and drums. They have some marks around them, but they will never chop off like wood sticks. 2) very high quality material. The bottom part of the stick (where you hold it)is made out of a metal that has a rough texture on the outside. This improves the grip so much, and unlike wood sticks, you wont have them flying out of your hand at high speed drumming. The upper part is constructed from hard plastic and can stand very hard hitting. The only "bad" thing I can think of is that these sticks are heavy in terms of weight. They are about twice as heavy as wooden sticks. Over all, I give them a 9.8/10. They last forever and the quality is amazing. 2 Thumbs up.
