worth the money

I find these drumsticks very useful in many ways.

1. They look cool (not the biggest thing but its a plus)

2. Solid hits

3. You can beat them up very hard, more than wooden ones

4. They dont put any damage marks on your heads or cymbals

but they do have some negatives

1. These particular "rock" sticks are a bit heavy for my taste

2. they are expensive

overall great sticks i would give them a try if I were anyone, they do last a good amount of time and they do come in a variety of weights not just this one. Personally if I could choose to be sponsored for sticks, ahead is where to go.

Not Worth The Price

I bought these sticks not even a year ago. Hardly used them. And I play a Yamaha Electronic drumsset, that have silicone & rubber pads. For the price you pay for these so called sticks, you would think, that they were made better. The grip part of the stick broke inside. Now you can buy the taper covers & the replacement tips all day long, for a good price. But you can't buy the replacement grips, that I know of. I'm not going out and buy a new pair of sticks again for $ 30.00, or more. And to top it all off, you gotta super glue the tips, back on. To me, I rather buy 3 prs. of sticks, instead of one of these poor designed sticks. I just hope other drummers have better luck, than I did. I won't go that route again.

It is possible to break these..

I've broken two of these style of drumsticks (I had the Joey Jordison signature pairs). After about 6 months of playing hard with these, it is very possible for the aluminum core on the inside to snap in half. My guess is that it's from either rim shots or the ride bell. Either way, they are definitely NOT indestructible, unfortunately. I will say that the performance of these sticks are outstanding and I love playing with them, but after you break a couple of them, you start to not want to spend so much on a pair of them if you know they are going to break again. Worth the money until they break.

I got 2 pairs of these because I needed to try something different.  I'd go through wood sticks like a lumberjack. These are great quality sticks, but they're not quite as durable as they should be.  They feel like they have bad balance, and after a short time the sleeves get a little stretched out and it allows for very intense vibration through the body of the stick... can get very painful. Here's my biggest problem.  I broke these bad boys IN HALF before I replaced the sleeves for the first time.  Maybe they expect you to change the sleeves BEFORE they start cutting through, though.  (I didn't even bust or dent up my snare head...) They lasted quite a bit longer than wood sticks, but they feel weird.  Don't get them unless you're gonna get drumming gloves.

Very Hard Hitter

I've been a rock drummer for twenty-five years now and have tried alot of different kinds of sticks. The Ahead sticks are what works for me. I hit very hard for about thirty to fourty rock tunes. I've broken very few since I started using this brand. The savings from broken wood sticks is worth the extra cost. I only broke a few hitting the bell on my ride cymbal.
