Ahead

Synthetic sticks built to last.

XL Rock series aluminum sticks with replaceable nylon sleeves really pack a wallop. They feature the largest diameter (.620") of all of the Ahead sticks and are built for optimum sound projection and durability, with ergonomically tuned handle diameters.

Precision alloy cores provide negligible weight and balance variations. Super-hard replaceable polyurethane covers protect both sticks and gear. Vibration-reduction system reduces hand fatigue. The XL Concert is 16-5/8" long, the XL Studio is 16-1/4". Each features super-short taper covers.

Great sticks, but heavy!

I bought a pair of the XL sticks here after finally breaking a pair of the Ahead Rock Drumsticks (It took me about 2-3 years).  The XL's are longer, and a lot heavier.  The extra weight made it easy to leave tip dents in my drumheads, especially my roto-toms.  I went back to another pair of the regular Rock sticks because they are much lighter.

These babies are the king daddy over Ahead sticks. They are large, long, heavy and pack a wallop. Ive played drums for over 25 years so I know what Im talkin about. Ive used every ahead stick thats made, Ive even broke(yes BROKE) 2 pair. They are NOT unbreakable but I guarantee you all that these are the toughest sticks on the planet! I will only use Ahead sticks in a gig cause any wooden pair lasts me about 5 minutes.Woodies are just practice sticks for me :o).

I have a bad habit of breaking sticks fast. these are good for heavy hitters, but not the best. the head is too round, and can easily punch a hole through a drumhead. they are a little to top heavy, but will start to feel lighter over time.

I'm a 15 year old drummer and I go through sticks like crazy and I decided to pick theese up. But in about a week the sleeve cracked. So i wouldent suggest using theese sticks. But the Joey joridson ahead drumsticks are awsome. I will always play with ahead just not this type.
