After having done extensive research on this E-Kit, I purchased two of these kits to create a monster E-Kit that mimicked my acoustic kit. The kit was easy to assemble out of the box, which made for a great start! Great attention to detail was evident from the factory when they package these kits, there was no damage anywhere, items were packaged to withstand the worst shipper in the world. After briefly going through the set-up manual for directions on voice selection, tuning etc., it was easy to figure out and personalize my specific kit. The module incorporates many tuning options for cymbals, snare, toms, kick and accessories like cow-bell, wood block, etc. The mesh heads offer fantastic stick rebound. I tuned my heads to feel like my acoustic set and love the feel. My one and only gripe is the choke on the cymbals... I wish they didn't have such a delay from choke to no sound, once you choke the cymbal it takes about 1.5 seconds to stop, it's not immediate. Over all, the sounds are awesome! You can actually get cymbal swells without sounding like a machine gun, love that! The sustain and decay functions will be your best friend when tuning these. Each voice needs its own tweeking, and it's so easy to do. I'm an active musician with 40 yrs experience behind a kit, have owned and played many many kits, and had to contact many factory support personel for various reasons. I contacted Alesis customer support with a cymbal issue I was having, they took my information and within a week I had a free replacement... no questions asked. Fantastic customer support! So, all this being said, if your in the market for a low cost, quality kit... the Alesis Crimson Mesh Head kit is the way to go.

We use the set for rehearsal, while all members going through in-ears.. my biggest problem is the triggering for the kick.. it does not pick up the double bass kick patterns to well, meaning a lot of missed beats... So we try to adjust trigger sensitivity and curve, and we get miss triggers all over the place,, tons of bounce back triggering... We found a not so happy medium which somewhat takes care of all the miss triggers and somewhat allows for double bass patterns to be played .. neither of the two are at optimal capacity but I guess for rehearsal it will have to do.. was hopeful that we could use the set for smaller gigs but not with the poor kick response... Will probably at some point have to replace it with one of the Roland kicks.. the sounds are not great but are workable.. they give some basic eqs to play around with,, some pitch control,. I can run the entire thing through tune tracks which we will probably do anyway,. Hopefully there is no latency problems...And yes , the more you play with it the better you can make it but not by leaps and bounds... For the price, it's a middle of the road deal...

This kit is awesome. I did a lot of research before buying and I think I made the correct choice this kit is very responsive and the module sounds are excellent, for the money it has everythin compared to a 2500 kit. The snare and toms are huge and the cymbal are good size. I m very pleased.

Comments about Alesis Crimson Electronic 5-Piece Drum Kit with Mesh Heads:

Okay, I have owned Roland kits and I am going to tell you this is the best kit in it's price range. Everyone that is putting this kit down, does not know how to use it, or never took the time to learn the kit and learn how to program and customize it. The stock kits on the set are not bad and there are some great sounds in this module as well as USB capability to add a flash drive with your own sounds which I have already done. I mainly use the kits that I have programmed on my own in the 20 available user kit spots and they sound great! You just have to read the manual and know what you are doing. I even added another e-cymbal that I had and it has room for another tom. It took me some time to learn everything , but once you get to know everything and program your own stuff, it is great.

Comments about Alesis Crimson Electronic 5-Piece Drum Kit with Mesh Heads:

I really do like this kit and it is the first edrum kit I have owned. I honestly prefer playing acoustic drums. However, with home recording this unit shines. I cant tell the difference between my acoustic set and Crimson set on recordings. I was not crazy about the module sounds honestly. I purchased Addictive Drums and that really changed things. Those kits sound so good! For the price, this kit is worth every penny. Last thing I want to add, the high hat will miss at times and so will the bell of the ride cymbal. Not enough for me to give a bad review. The high hat will normally only miss doing cymbal rolls, no biggie. I would buy this kit again.

I use this kit for my worship group. It's a amazing kit so far! I made sure to get some 5a sticks so drummers don't use their heavy acoustic drumsticks, and I use the rubber side of the kick drum beater. Great tones and all the drummers who play on it like it! I haven't had any issues at all! I had to travel around with it too! Sounds are great and it feels great...winning combo!
