This is an excellent kit or the price tag offered . I recently moved Into an apartment and needed a kit to be able to practice fast , I also have a few projects that I needed to have something portable to rehearse with in similar sound restricting environments The Alesis dm lite has fit all of those needs . Playability is great off of the bat my only pet piece is not being able to use a real kick pedal. After two weeks of use my pedal broke and started miss triggering unfortunately I did not order from here . Hopefully I can get the trigger swapped for a pad trigger. The training couch function. Is huge I have noticed a clean up in my playing from just 2 weeks of using It . All though there are only 10 sounds they are all very useful

I picked this set up used from MF. It's not bad for the price but I quickly decided I needed something better. The kick pedal lasted about five days before it stopped working, but the set was used. My biggest issues were not being able to add on a double bass pedal and I assume it won't accept other add ons either. It's built light which is good for travel and storage but it will move around a bit when you get playing. I haven't knocked it over but I don't think it would take much to do so. Another issue is layout. Unless the kit is modified, the snare is far enough under the hi hats that you'll hit sticks together, unless the hats are moved unnaturally far away. I decided to exchange this kit, spend some more money and upgrade to the DM8 Pro.

Comments about Alesis DM LITE Five-Piece Electronic Drumset:

After reading many reviews, I went with an "Open Box" set. I don't think mine had even been assembled at all, everything was in like new condition. No instructions or directions, but those were easy enough to get on the web. Set it up, and in no time had things up and running. The Kick and High Hat controllers were more sturdy than I thought they would be. I have used it on a couple of home recording projects, and have no real complaints. The one thing I would say could be improved on would be the ability to adjust the volume of each pad; but that's it. Probably not going to use but maybe a couple of the "kits" included in the module, but for what I'm doing, and for the price, it's just right. ---JDD

Comments about Alesis DM LITE Five-Piece Electronic Drumset:

I'm not a drummer but bought this for my little protools studio when I realized what, with one little USB plug the potential was to access thousands of samples! The basic kits are decent enough for practice and tomorrow I will take the drums to an outdoor Fund-raising show since they are easy to move. I have always had great luck with this manufacturer and MF !

Comments about Alesis DM LITE Five-Piece Electronic Drumset:

I bought my son the Simmons SD5Xpress for Christmas (2014) and that turned out to have a defective module. Unfortunately, MF did not have any more SD5Xpress in stock, so we got the Alesis DMLite as a replacement instead. Overall it's been pretty good. My son loves it, and plays it often in the mornings before school with headphones on. It's much easier on everyone's ears than his old acoustic kit.

Unfortunately, on June 9, 2015 the kick pedal broke in half. It's just a cheap piece of plastic and it was velcroed to the rug below it, so it's not like he was waving it around or anything, but it broke into multiple pieces and is totally useless. Since I didn't get the extended warranty, MF won't help, and Alesis appears to offer no support. Spend more and get something better.

Very fun but the foot pedals are very cheap made doesn't feel real .. the snare pad is to low setting and the value isn't very loud ... all In all on a scale from 1-10 I'd rate it a 4 .. not to mention it was an open box purchase it looked like someone just put it in the box with the foam packaging sticking to the pads .. was not packaged correctly ..

Comments about Alesis DM LITE Five-Piece Electronic Drumset:

I originally purchased the Simmons SD5Xpress from MF for my son for Christmas. Upon first use we discovered that the buttons on the module were broken, preventing us from changing any kit effects. The SD5Xpress was discontinued so we got the Alesis DM Lite instead. My son is 8 and still a beginning drummer, and we got him this mostly as a way for him to be able to play drums upstairs without making us all deaf. We got him the Alesis Practice Amp (SKU J02978) to go with it and the sound quality is excellent. It has a couple of built-in songs to play along with and 10 sound kits. The Simmons had 36 kits, so only having 10 is disappointing, but he doesn't seem to mind. The DM Lite kit was quick to set up and looks easy to move. It doesn't seem very sturdy, and definitely needs to be set up on a rug or piece of carpet, otherwise the pedals slide around. The kick pedal is "virtual" - there's no sensor that gets hit when you step on the pedal. I don't know how much this matters, but it definitely feels different than a regular kick pedal. My biggest gripe with the DM Lite is that the module is right next to the snare sensor, so when he misses, he hits the module. I'd have preferred the sensor be somewhere less likely to be struck by a beginner whaling on it.

Overall we're satisfied with the DM Lite, but I think we'd have preferred the Simmons unit, and were sad it was discontinued.

I bought this for myself with Christmas money, and it sounded great and was a big help for me to get into drums for the 4 months that I had it. Just now though, the kick pedal went out on me. Don't know where to get another one so I'm just going to focus on getting an acoustic drum set where that kind of misfunction won't happen. I would not buy this kit again. Don't waste your money like I did.

Ive had this set for about 2 weeks. little did I know the piece that hold the "cymbals" on are plastic. I was playing last night and 2 of the cymbals fell off. cannot be repaired. I thought drums were meant to be banged on. guess not with this hunk of junk
