Alesis

A great choice for aspiring drummers everywhere.

The Alesis DM6 electronic drum set highlights the best of Alesis' 20 years of experience in professional electronic percussion instruments. This electronic drum kit features a completely redesigned sound module with 108 quality drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds. Its drum pads feel great and its hardware and rack system are built to last.

Unmistakable Alesis Feel
Like all Alesis drum sets, the DM6 features realistic, natural-feeling playing surfaces. To reduce vibration feedback, natural rubber drum and cymbal surfaces were selected for the DM6's drum pads. This 5-piece kit gets you started on a dual-zone snare pad for 2-sound compatibility. You can dial in a snare drum sound in the center and a rim click, rim shot, or something totally different like a cowbell on the rim.

The Alesis DM6 electronic drum kit also comes with 3 tom pads, an upright kick drum pad, hi-hat, crash, and ride cymbal pads. It even comes with an Alesis bass drum pedal and the kick pad is compatible with most single and double bass pedals.

Outstanding Sound
The DM6 module features an internal collection of topnotch drum, cymbal, and percussion sounds. You can edit and save your drum kits for custom sounds. You get 10 presets and 5 custom slots. In addition to the sounds, there's a USB output that sends the notes you play out as MIDI signal. This enables you to use the DM6 as a trigger-to-MIDI interface with drum-module software such as BFD, Toontrack, or Reason for a limitless collection of sounds.

The Alesis DM6 has headphone and amplifier outputs so you can play quietly in phones or connect up and rock out. You can also connect your iPod or CD player and mix it in with the DM6's stereo input jack.

Practice Tools
The DM6 module has a metronome, an essential tool for keeping steady time whether you're practicing alone or with a band. The DM6 also has a built-in sequencer with 40 preset music tracks for play along—great practice tool!

Rugged Hardware
A drum set is only as strong as its weakest link. The DM6 Kit mounts on a heavy-duty aluminum rack. The standard 1-1/2" tubing enables you to add on with Alesis and other brands' clamps and mounts. The electric drum kit also comes with a full set of mounting hardware and cables, as well as rugged kick drum and hi-hat pedals.

Features:

The Alesis Dm6 usb Drum kit, right out of the box, it was everything i have thought it would be, i have an apartment so an acoustic kit was out of the question, out of the box setup was a breeze i didnt look at the instructions it took me about 25 minutes to fully set up.. sounds great! the velocity detection is dope the only problom is no mater how u strike the cymbals you get the same sound at diffrent velocities/volumes ,,, the ride has a few diffrent sounds but it's hard to get a constant sound, maybe its just becuase im new but the Dink sound is harder to produce then the wide area tinks...  they really should make a duel zone ride, like they did for the snare....

But over all the kit is amazing and everything you would think an edrum kit would be.. now the lack of sound from the ride is def made up by the the sher number of kits and voice changes you can make with the dm6 drum module... i would reccommend this drum kit to any drummer of any level skill for the price u cant beat a home jame kit where you can adjust the volume or just use a head set ... some sacrifices you just have to make if you can use an acoustic set ....  as for some of the other posts on cracking rubber cymbals, i wont mind if these crack frankly they will still produce the same sound its not like a real cymbal you can hit it cracked or not it will make the same sound ... and i also assume these cymbals last longer then real ones do... any they arent much more expensive actually i think to replace these might be cheaper ... so Good luck and dont think about it just buy and try it for yourself there is def worst ways to spend your money .... !!! <3 take it easy !

Pretty good.

Features:

Nothing fancy as far as features go. It has the basic things that you would expect it to. Metronome, and an assorment of grooves to play along to. etc.

Quality:

The pads have a nice feel when playing. The kit is fully customizable for any size player; you can put anything anywhere.

Value:

I don't think there's a better deal for the same price. Especially since it comes with a kick pedal.

Overall:

All the kits sound fake. If you want to use audio coming straight from the module, you should get another module. I figured it would be that way so i bought with the intention of using it to trigger software drums. It's fantastic for that but, I don't think anything on the mod was sampled from a real set.

Save up for a Roland...

Features:

The kit has soft rubber pads, and for an upgrade from a basic kit, this is a fairly nice feel. The rimshot on the snare feels a bit strange since the whole pad surface (including rim area) is rubber, but you get used to it. The cymbals are hard but coated in rubber for a small section to make your hits quieter.

The drum module has 108 sounds, but although this sounds like a lot, my old kit (ION IDM02 - less than half the price of the DM6...) had a sound library of about TWICE that of the DM6, which gives you an impression of how barren the DM6 feels. The kits are very dry and compressed, which is a shame if you feel like doing any recording with the kit. However, the USB midi feature does compensate for this somewhat, allowing you to use external, computer controlled sounds, but as an out-of-the-box drumkit, it is very lacking compared to its competition.

Another point to make is that, if you ever plan on using this kit with a double bass pedal, don't bother. The bass pad is only just big enough for the smallest of beaters, and if you ever manage to find a pedal that fits, then the triggering for the bass pad is so weak anywhere other than the centre that you end up missing beats due to the pad not triggering, and if you played it with a single pedal straight after a double pedal, there is a MASSIVE difference in volume which is a direct fault of the trigger system.

Quality:

I got this kit last year, and within two months of use the snare pad  stopped triggering the rimshots, then within a week of the first  malfunction the entire pad stopped triggering anything at all. While all  that was happening, the cymbal pads were splitting (A flaw with the  design, since the plastic has a join with the rubberised section that  isn't anywhere near strong enough to take the damage of normal playing).  I had to take the snare and two of the cymbal pads back to the shop  (thankfully, under warranty) and get them replaced. The replacements  took far longer than would be expected, then when they arrived, I had  the EXACT same issues with the pads (brand new replacements showing it  clearly wasn't just a faulty batch initially). I've had the snare  replaced once again, and it's already showing to be much less sensitive  than it was when I took it out of the box. Also, since the rubber is so  soft, the pads are wearing very quickly, and a crack has appeared in the  rubber on one of the tom pads. Duct tape is an essential when  considering buying this kit...

Value:

Fairly good value initially, but for the reasons outlined above, you'll end up being so frustrated that you'll wish you'd saved up that little bit extra for a Roland.

Overall:

The features aren't up there with Roland kits, the quality is appalling and customer care is severely lacking. If you have the chance, then save up for a Roland, since pretty much any of them will offer a much better experience overall as well as many more features and incredibly higher quality. Cannot discourage you from buying this kit more strongly.

Alesis DM6

Features:

This product is extremely accessible, yet just as difficult to master as the real thing. In un-packing the box it came in, one thing was immediately clear; this is no kid’s toy. This is a nine-piece set (10, if you include the drum module that makes the magic happen), weighing in at around 40 pounds. Upon assembling though, it was fairly easy to put together as long as you READ THE DIRECTIONS.

Quality:

This product is great quality for your money. The durable kit is very sturdy and garanteed to last a hardcore drummer a long time; as it has me.

Value:

As great as this product is, it just doesnt beat the real deal. I've always been a fan of acoustical drum sets, so its harder to satisfy me with the faker-sounding module kits.

Overall:

One perk, though, is that the drummer gets to customize his settings, record himself drumming, and even change the tempo to his beats. There is also a built-in metronome which comes in handy. Overall, this is a great drumkit and i definetly would recommend it to a freind.

Overall:
The Alesis DM6 kit seems to be a love/hate product. My experience was just about all positive, however. Everything worked how it should have (Even without the update on their website), sounded great through an amp or headphones. Solid rack and mounts. Definitely worth the money. The only downside, I feel, is that the pads are still rather noisy. You buy an electronic kit to get rid of the noise. It helps, but really no more than buying mutes for an acoustic kit.
