Honestly guys, this is a MUST HAVE. I've been using these for over 10 years, and they're amazing. I'm not a metal drummer, but sometimes do play heavier louder pop rock songs, and prior to owning these, I've cracked a couple cymbals. I've NEVER cracked a cymbal since switching to these. They allow the cymbal to absorb the impact and flex more naturally. For those who've complained that the screw ruins the stand thread, its irrelevant. I'd never take these off, and they've stayed on secure over the years of playing. Use the red ones for Crash/Splash.... Use Yellow for Ride and larger Chinas.

Where do I start. The concept is good, however poorly engineered. I have 4 China cymbals. For years (20 +) only one was hanging on one of these. Recently (for piece of mind) I installed one on the other three. To my surprise the design hasn't changed in at least 20 years! Just like my original, the top nut doesn't sandwich the cymbal tightly against the bottom nut leaving a gap between the cymbal bell and the top and bottom felts causing all kinds of rattling noise(felts are some kind of hard rubber material, maybe a stiff latex material would be better). I had to install an additional thin felt to dampen the noise! Also, the top nut cross threads easily so be careful when mounting. The other issue is the way they mount on the cymbal boom/stand. They slip over the threads and secure with a set screw that mashes into the stand. Come on, can't they they design a less disfiguring mode of attachment. I guess after 20 years, perhaps not.

      Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

I used to use cymbal springs years ago. I recently bought some new cymbals and decided to give them a try again. I bought some of the light duty for my splashes and smaller crash, and some heavy duty for my larger crashes and ride. Bottom line: they suck. I have Tama road pro cymbal stands that I think are fairly standard. The screw attachment for the cymbal springs screws directly into the threads of the stand! Not only is this a bad idea for the threads of the stand, but it doesn't hold securly and loosens up after a little playing (unless you srew it so tight that it destroys the threads on the stand. Fortunately, it is hard to get it screwed down that tight, because they use a flat head screw!?!?. Okay, lots of modern equipment uses flat head screw technology, right? They replaced the forgiving felt cymbal washers with two different colors of some kind of rubber or silicone. They don't conform to the cymbals as well as felt, are not as forgiving when they meet the cymbal, and when they contact the cymbal is is audibly noticable. EOR!

This product just doesn't work. Will not fit any stand I have. When I talked to MF they kind of shined me on. Too bad. I have spent tons of dough there and this is what I get.

          Cymbal Spring (Terrible)

              Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

This is a far cry from the original Cymbal Spring which worked very well.
You'll find several serious flaws in the design of this version:

              1. The entire point of the Cymbal Spring is for the spring (not the cymbal) to absorb the impact of a stick hit. SInce rubber pads cannot be clamped tightly down onto the cymbal, the cymbal moves around between the pads and the entire purpose of the device is essentially defeated.

              2. The receptacle for the post on your cymbal stand is not deep enough and is too large to be secure.

              3. You'll need a screwdriver (not a drum key) to tighten the clamping screw to the post of the cymbal stand.

              I'd recommend against purchasing this.

I have one of these and I bought one for my nephew. We both use the 10" Wuhan purchased from Musician's Friend.
Keep in mind that you have to really crank the screw down pretty tightly to keep it from wobbling on the boom arm or stand. this will probably cause you to dig into the threads (like I did), but don't worry about those threads and just crank that bad boy down. there will be no need to remove it unless you want to use a regular cymbal later.

These are the only springs I will buy now; I can't imagine how weak the light springs must be. It works pretty well for my 20" china but it still move a little more than I'd like. I would rather save my cymbals though, so I suppose it's worth it. Also, the screw tops are very quick and easy to use.

9 years and not a single cymbal broken or spring damaged

                      By Oscar Almada

                      from Mexico.

                      Comments about Aquarian Cymbal Spring:

As you've all mentioned the cymbal spring allows the cymbal to move and this absorbs the impact, it lets the cymbal vibrate naturally and protects the center, I've recommended them to everyone I know for 9 years. they are a great protection for your investment.
The spring can really take the punishment of metal music. and the rubber doesn't look at all damaged.
They don't even look 9 years old, because I bought extras in case I damaged one or two, and I still have them in their package.Ive Own both cymbal springs for a little over 9 years ALL my cymbals have them( even the splashes and Zilbel) I have a big set up (5- 18" crashes, 2-18" chinas, 2-12" chinas, 2-20" rides and 2-splashes 9" y 11") and I havent damaged a single cymbal, I used to break my crashes a lot. I also have not noticed any damage to the thread of my cymbal posts. On the smaller cymbals(splashes and 12" chinas) I ve used the cymbal springs upsidedown and they've worked fine.
This is a really practical and economic way to protect cymbals, and after 9 years I've gotten a lot more out of them than ever expected. After all this time theres no way to know how many cymbals I would have broken without my springs but before them I broke quite a few.
