I got these to match the Aquarian II batters. I like them. I don't have much to compare to other than stock heads. we all know the aren't any good most of the time. I was using them without the cut-out for about two years(great sound) prior to getting my mic set. I wasn't getting the sound I was looking for(using a mic) before the cut. So I tried the cut and really didn't hear much of a difference(that was a good thing). But it did allow me to get the mic placement I needed for the sound I wanted.

I use an EMAD2 batter and used to use an Evans reso head too. This allowed for no internal muffling. When I got my new DWs, this had the same construction as the Evans and a port ring supplied in case I decided to use a port... at 2/3 the price. It turned out to be exactly the same sound I wanted with no port (great since I hate them). Good deal Aquarian. Note these heads in black used to be more like charcoal gray as if they were painted inside. They're now gloss black like P3s/most stock reso heads. Nifty new logo too.

I put this head along with a Super Kick II on my 70's 24" Vistalite and it rocks! Sounds amazing in any space.

I married this head with a super kick II and man this is a great head to compliment the super kick II. I use it in my 1964 20in. Ludwig Bass drum and it really made my bass drum come alive. Great sound. I Highly recommend it.

I originaly just needed a bass drum head with a port so I could record some drum tracks. I've always liked Aquarian so I picked up one of these. This head sounds so amazing on my kit. I couldnt believe how loud it is. I can get the smack sound that I like on my bass drum while getting the low bass sound with NO overtones. I now will exclusively use this head for all applications (Live, Practice, stage)I am highly pleased with it. This product is worth the money, Thanks Aquarian!

I really Liked the way This Head made my Mapex saturn Sound and Look. It Tuned up nice and easy .(BTW if u use a Drum dial be carefull about not moving it around much while tuning cuz it will scratch it easy) I also added on two Black port holes and that alone just gets me on the way it looks. Its almost like making a ford into a BMW its that much of a improvement. 10 stars all the way

I bought a custom made kit and they supplied it with this head, I wouldn't change it over anything else and before it was only Evans heads.
