A music store salesman/drum teacher sold me one of these, and I've had nothing but compliments and positive reaction to the sound of my snare drums. I used it on a Ludwig steel 14x5-1/4 "Broadway" snare, then switched it over to my inexpensive ("Saltbox") 14x5-1/2 wooden snare, and have received compliments on how good the wooden snare sounds (as well as how good the Ludwig sounded). I am not having much of a problem with dynamics, except when practicing in a small apartment. It loses it, only when playing way, way low (like a whisper). I guess I'm generally a medium to hard hitter, though. My cheap snare has just a little ring to it, without many high-pitched overtones. I may try one of the X-Series coated heads on the Ludwig next, for a brighter snappier sound, to use on some songs. I'm happy with all Aquarian batter heads. They are, at least, right up there with Remo Pinstripes and Evans Hydraulic, I would say. I also upgraded from the cheap stock head to Aquarian Classic Clear snare side drum head, and that is nice too; must be the patented hoop design. I hope this helps you with your decision on the drum head for the backbeat sound on your drum kit.

I play single ply clear Ambassador on the snare usually. But they've broken before. I bought this for the durability and found a few interesting things out as I was tuning. The kevlar-like coating on top keeps it from giving you a note when tuning the individual keys; you don't know what it's tuned at. I kept going until I got high-pitched notes out of it, and the tension I play at to get crack (Jose Pasillas, John Otto). The excessive over-ring is unbearable. I've tuned heads before, replaced and tuned again. I know how to tune a drum and what to do to fix it or compensate for things. This ring was pissing me off. Even the internal muffler didn't eliminate it (maybe 70%) but was still holding that high ring after a hit. Loosening the reso made it worse. With drumheads, to keep from ringing, the two heads can be tuned apart from one another and ring disappears. Doing that amplified the ring and muddied the snares so I knew I was correct the first time.Rockers who care about your snare sound, DO NOT buy this. You'll have a headache and still have crap. I gave the features a 4.5 because idea with the material would be cool if it didn't feedback the ring.NOT FOR REAL DRUMMERS

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:
Bought this for a Pearl Free Floating brass piccolo snare. It sounds pretty good, but, not quite the snare sound I was looking for.

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:
I put this head on my snare, and POW!! Instant sound change. This head takes a searous beating, and than sits back to laugh at you. As if it knew you where gonna like it. I feel sorry for the brushers. This is a head strickly for the pounders!!! Four years old and still sronger than any other head yet.

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:
Simply put, this is the best snare drum head I have ever used. It stood up to high tension and some serious pounding and lasted a very long time!
Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:
I play in several bands around the area and practice about five hours a day. This snare head is great! short and simple in real time, sexy, east to tune, looks sweet. bottom line, it gets girls. the girls love me for my aquarian heads.
Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:
Just the right amount of punch and volume is what makes up this drum head. I had never heard of Aquanrian before and decided to give it a chance and was pleasantly surprised.
Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:
I've tried several different snare heads(Evans genera HDs,Remo weatherkings, etc.) and none of them really delivered and gave me that really in your face snare sound. All of them focused too much on the lower frequencies of the snare(which wasn't what i wanted). But once i got this thing,it completely transformed my tone, making it great for Metal(mainly) AND funk/groove playing.SO,if you want a really punchy, cranked, and in your face snare sound, you should check this out.
Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:
This Aquarian snare head is amazing, I've had it for about a year now and it's still in great condition and sounds perfect. You won't be disappointed with this product.
Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:
I have had this head for nearly 6 months now. Let me tell you, it's a THICK head. I don't understand how you could break this thing, but surely enough, I did. It sounded excellent. I put this on a Pearl Export Pro Series Steel Snare and boy, did this thing sound amazing. It has a little bit of a ring, but it's nothing a Moongel or two wouldn't solve. This is perfect for progressive rock and a little metal. Overall, it?s an excellent head. I bought another one today. Thanks, Aquarian!
