Yes, some people won't like how dead sounding they are, but I find they work very well for playing low volumes & mike up nicely for loud volumes & last a very long time.

Guys these are little too dead-ening for my personal taste. I like it wet and glossy these are meant to suppress that. My band gets videotaped a lot, so the drums have to have a loud vibrant presence especially if you want to hear the strokes when I go for Pantera style triplet-to-crash accents, or quadruplet-to-crash accents.
These are more meant for the dudes that wanna kill the ring from drums.
I understand that, but when it comes to videotaping, I gotta have all the voice I can possibly get from my kit. Our camera has a high quality mic, so the overtones (or what you would consider unwanted ring) gets transformed to a good sound pretty nicely. Basically, I need ALL the sound I can get from the shells & heads, but the point to THESE heads is deadening all those sounds. They are great for that though.
What these DO (not what they sound like) are what pinstripes do, rather than what Emperors and Ambassadors do. For some reason this wasn't clear to me when doing research. I just wanted to be specific about this cuz I read all the 'YEAH THESE SOUND AWESOME' reviews and spent my money in the wrong direction.
However, if your a 'dead' guy though, YES these are better than pinstripes. And you prolly won't need Moongels or tape & cotton.
Also one last thing - if you're a budget drummer and need everlasting heads, GO FOR IT, these are prolly the best.

Aquarian Heads are a must for my Tama Swingstar. The sound is deep, controlled and they are easy to tune. I've been using Aquarian Heads for the last 15 to 20 years. I would highly recommend their use on any drumset!

I really love these Aquarian Heads. I put them on a low end cocktail kit and it made a huge difference! The kit now sounds as good as any regular kit I have played, and I would not hesitate to use it for any of the gigs I play. Bottom line: a fabulous improvement in the sound of my drums!

These heads are fanFREAKINGtastic. I really enjoy playing these heads, they are super easy to tune and to tune well. I like to tune my toms fairly lower with some nice sustain to the tone, sorta like (incase of my floor tom) a base drop, and these heads make that easy to get. I play a lot of pop/rock/ambiant style of music so I needed that sustain to cut through everything else.

I have used Remo pinstripes and evans genera heads in the past, but these aquarians blow them away. I've been using them for two years. I recently installed them on my ddrum bubinga drumset. These heads sound better tuned somewhat loose. Using my evans drum tuner, I tuned them to #3 and the resonant heads on the bottom to #4. Aquarian says that the resonant head should be slightly tighter than the batter head. The durability and tone is Excellent. Still need dampening rings or moongels, though.

i took off a set of evans heads that sounded good just to try these on mu yamaha stage customs. wow im glad i did! my drums sound so much better that even the guys in the band commented. the floor tom was always a little off before but now it even sounds great! i love them. def worth a try if you are looking

These drumheads are amazing. They are cheap and sound really good. I played a show with these and the toms did not have mics. After the show another drummer said they could hear them cut through everything. Oh by the way did I mention I play in a metal band.

These are just what I've been looking for! Insanely low tone and nice, short sustain. One thing I can't stress enough is the attack these offer, holy crap! These heads offer amazing stick definition accompanied by low end and punch. No better heads out there!
