For a long time, I have wrestled with the tuning of these heads. Finally, I tuned them low and I was seriously impressed with the beautiful sound that I got out of them! They had so much power that they just about blew my head off when I'd lay into them! If you want to tune high, these are probably not for you as they didn't sound nearly as good tuned high as tuned very low. Although that could be because I have "Power Toms" and they tend to tune a bit lower than smaller drums. These heads produce very warm sounds and accented attack. But I would only recommend these heads if you mic your drums! Here is why: I do not mic my drums and although they sounded like a million bucks behind the kit, in the audience the tones were too muted and all that could be heard was attack. Sounded like cardboard boxes. If you do not mic your drums, be wary of these heads. You may decide to go with something that does not muffle the tones at all. Remember to have someone else bang your toms while you sit in the audience to hear how it sounds. You may be surprised that what the audience hears is completely different than what you hear behind the kit.Still, if you are miking your drums, these heads will blow you away!! Good stuff!!

Tried the studio x and I didn?t have very good results. I got a Tama star classic performer birch fusion kit and I can tune drums decent but I couldn?t get the sound I was after. Tried different batter side and resonant side tensions still they didn?t impress me. My 10" tom just sounded like ****. I even played them in a little. I wanted to try a one ply head. Probably would work decent for jazz or light music. Don?t know why I wanted to try to get a better sound than I had with Evans EC2's. I put them back on and now I realize that that is the best head on the market. I'm never straying from them again. Probably if you play heavier music and want Aquarian heads you should look at Performance 2'S with the power dot.

Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
Good heads, the discription by Musican Friend lead me to beliveve they were white heads not clear. Due to Musican Friend poor customer service I decided just to keep them
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
I got these heads as a replacement to a set of Evans g2s. After I got them tuned up I immediately like these as much if not more. The Evans still have better attack, but these provide a warmer tone that I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of attack for. Recommended for those of us who need a tight sound with less ring, while still maintaining a good tone.
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
These drum heads work as advertised. I put these on a set of Yamaha 100% birch laquered drums - all of my toms. The birch shells have a nice tonal quality and lots of projection, but can be a bit "ringy". The Studio-X heads cut out the unwanted ring while keeping the tonal qualities that I enjoy and the projection needed for playing in clubs with no mikes on the drums. The combination of these heads and the birch shells, however, create a drum that wants to be played hard! so I wouldn't necesarily use these for something like lounge jazz.... But for Country or Rock, they are fantastic!
Muffling system works as designed and advertized.
Well made and packaged
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
I just cant say enough good about these heads. I've got them on all my toms 10,12,13,14, and 16 floor tom, on a Mapex Pro Maple Studio Kit. These heads replaced the stock heads back about 8 yrs ago, and still sound and look fantastic! I'm a moderate hitting drummer, and show no mercy for these heads when doing a live show...(classic rock). They hold their tune forever! Honestly, I check the tune on these about once every 2-3 months! ...they just dont change! Quallity Maple shells need a little overtone and ring control...these heads do the trick, hands down. I gave the Aquarian Studio-X heads a positive 10, all the way around. Their cheap, bullet proof, easy to tune, do what they claim, and last forever!! When I "do" decide to replace these heads, Studio-X are going back on! I'm buying another ful set soon, just in fear that they may not be available in another couple of years!!!!!
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
I got these looking for a nice sound and these got that studio sound coming from the drums! These heads are bettter than the Remo and other brands i tried. Great sound!
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
I tried probably 5-6 different sets of heads on a DW Collector satin maple kit and these turned out to be the perfect sound to me. Excellent drum head for you DW players!
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
It took a lot of tweaking and a lot of sounds I wasn't happy with, but eventually I got a good sound out of it that is very studio-like. I dig it. Complements my 12 tom the most.
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
I could see ertain drummers not liking them. they have a controlled sound, they ring but its not over whelming. they are bright, but not like remo ambassador bright, they still give off a warm sound. Also they have excellant attack and a great feel, not too soft not too firm. They are perfect for the style of music I play but I would try them first before buying a whole set. If you are looking for a really deep fat sound go with aquarian performance 2's or evans hydraulics.
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
Over my 20 or so years of drumming I've tried them all basically, but the past few years I been drawn to Auquarian heads more and more. I play a Catalina Birch Gretsch kit and a Sonor Fusion kit and these heads by far give me the depth and attack I need for all the styles of usic I play. I play rock, pop, metal, hard rock, jazz and reggae and these by far give me the best overall sound I need so that I don't have to keep switching heads for each band. Just a tweak here and there on the tuning and I'm ready to roll!
Comments about Aquarian Studio-X Drumhead:
I play in an 80's glam rock band, and I wanted something that would give me that 80's arena rock sound, these definitely do the trick. There isn't much sustain to these but I dig that for a change. What you get is a straight on attack with little to no resonance and very little sustain. If your all about the "thump" and "attack" of your toms, give these a try!!!
