The patented Aquarian Safe-T-Loc hoop prevents the drumhead from slipping and the Sound Curve collar design provides "Responsive Tuning." With Responsive Tuning, one turn of the drum key and Aquarian Super-2 drumheads react. Aquarian includes a tuning sheet with each Super-2 clear drumhead with SX ring.

these two-ply heads have a built in dampening ring.This cuts the overtone and gives a fat deep sound with a short sustain. The ring is on the underside of the bottom (inside) ply and it makes the heads somewhat tough to tune. It is hard to get a true tone as you go around the tuning pegs because the ring makes it so "dead".
Kind of like tuning a snare head with the internal damper cranked up.
once in tune they do sound good on my gigging set, which has birch shells.
i had Aquarian performance 2's on before, and these super 2's with the ring have the same fat sound, but with less sustain. The decay is linear, so they dont sound unnaturally muffled or dead.

I have been a user of Aquarian Drum Heads exclusively for the past 7 years and have tried several different styles in that time.I eventually settled on the Performance II's for all my tom tom needs...UNTIL I recently tried Their Super 2's. These heads have the Sound I have always been looking for in a Tom Tom Head. They are simply Amazing.I prefer a Deep,Loose Tuning and these heads fit that bill perfectly.The SX Ring on the underside eliminates the need for ANY additional dampening of the head. I would have given them a Higher score in the "Value" area but I felt they were a bit Pricey compared to some of their other lines, but worth it none the less! They Mic up really nice without a need to over EQ the drum.

I tried these as a result of reading the "Search is over" review and He's right on the money! I'm a 57yr. old who always liked the coated heads but for the toms the super 2 clear w/ring are beautiful. It brings out a beautiful drum sound without too much if any "plastic-ee" sound! Personally I want to thank the persons well said review that helped me find this "new inspiration" for my playing!! I have the 10,12 14 and 16" and all great... now going for the 18". I'm not sure if these are available in coated? But if not that's O.K. with me! God Bless my fellow drummers and Merry Christmas to you and yours! Music is love....love is music!!!!

At first I thought Aquarian were cheap, maily becuase of price, but then I picked some up for one of my kits. I was blown away at how great they sounded. These and the Performance series are the best tom heads out there. There is little over tone, when tuned properly, and they give such a great sound. I tried everything from Evans to Remo, all diffrent heads 1 and 2, and these are now my number 1 choice and recommendation. Go to a store and hear them if you are skeptical, you will then buy them.

Looking for the "perfect" tom head? If you have been looking for a head that combines all the best aspects of other heads,... this may be it!I've tried the Performance 2, Response 2, G2, EC2, Emperor, and host of others. This head stands alone. These are what we hoped the Performance 2 would be. These heads actually sing like an EC2 without any of the weird overtones and the decay is perfect. All I can say is they have transformed my kit into an ultra pro set of drums,.. really a joy to play. The attack and projection seem good and they are very warm sounding. I'll be ordering a 16" and 18" for my floor toms as well, after hearing what they did for my 13" ride tom!! If you prefer a lot of sustain, ringing out in your toms, these may not be for you. If you like round, warm sounding toms with a defined pitch,.. go for it,.. I don't think you will regret it!
