Okay... Whoever this guy is who said his head started chipping obviously had a defected head, cause my head is still rolling for 6 months with no chipping of Coating in sight. Let's get to the details. This head Can compete with the Coated Ambassador toe-to-toe and outrun it. People like the Resonance and Open tone of the Remo Coated Ambassador, but the head's coating isn't very durable. Some people think that the Remo Coated Ambassador is too resonant. This head right here lies right in the middle. The perfect amount of resonance along with a Snap that is out of this world. Great for just about any situation you throw at it. Tune this bad boy up real good, and you have a winner baby.

Re-heading my 5 toms wasn't going to be cheap, but Aquarian has made it more affordable. First off, quick FYI, the logo on the heads are different than shown in the picture (not a big deal). These heads sound good, are durable (no chipping from coating yet), and are versatile (i.e. good for rock/jazz). If you're on a budget, and want the most bang for your buck, I'd highly recommend these.

This review is for the Aquarian heads that have the new z-100 coating. I bought a texture coated single ply head with Z-100 coating for my snare and I'm extremely happy with it. I decided to try Aquarians after the coating on my brand new Remo heads started to chip off within the first hour of playing. I've had the same Aquarian head with Z-100 coating on my snare for the past 8 months and the coating hasn't chipped off at all. It has smoothed out in the center, but the coating is still intact. These heads even tune up faster and easier than Remos. The only thing I do have to say is that the Aquarian coating doesn't seem to be as crisp as the Remo coating, but this might be my imagination. Regardless, the Aquarian head still sounds great and the Z-100 coating is extremely strong.

I got texture coated heads for all my tom batters. I play various kinds of jazz and use nothing over a 5A for sticks. Strangely enough I got chipped coating on the two small heads (10,12) after a month. After another month the 12" is now a 'classic clear' since the coating is gone completely. I've never seen a coated head chip off like this. This is leading me to never buy Aquarian heads again as they do just the opposite of what they claim to do.

I stumbled upon this head by accident. I ordered a pack of Response 2 drum heads and this coated snare head came free with the pack. I thought I would give it a try since it was free. I had been playing Aquarian's Hi-Energy snare head for the last several months... I was surprised b/c this head is awesome! Its single ply but durable. It is very bright and cracks like a whip, which I love. The coating holds up pretty well, lasted 13-14 shows. Very impressive head.
