2-ply heads can be tuned tight or loose and played hard or soft and you'll hear every beat. Recommended for toms in any situation. Excellent for a "dry" snare drum sound.

Aquarian has a "darker" sounding material to them, and the coating lasts longer. I used the Hi-Energy once, and it was too dead, but took a royal beating before I just got sick of the sound and lack of dynamics. I've tried a number of other heads and they either sound like poo, or don't last.
These, as a snare batter head, are perfect to my ears. Just enough ring to cut through the mix, you can tune them up to get a real concussive pop from your snare that is pure love. Bonus is that these heads seem to also last longer on average than anything I've used by the other two major brands, and I've gone through a LOT of heads to find the right ones for me.
I use these as a snare batter head. I play pretty loud with a lot of energy/drive, most of the time I'm doing rimshots to get that extra crack/pop, so I go through heads pretty quick.
As mentioned above, these tend to last longer, tune up better, and overall they are a quality head. I give an 8 because I wish they lasted a BIT longer, but overall they are great.
They're more expensive than competing options, but it balances out because they last longer. Still, the MSRP is nuts...no way it costs anywhere near that to make them - and this goes for all drum heads.

Im a Technical Death Metal Drummer who like a unique sound. My Cymbals are custom sauda cymbals ( my endorsers) and I have a all maple OCDP Drum kit. I bought these heads to give them a try because I have always used aquarian super kick 2 bass heads, so I purchased all of these for my 10 12 high toms and 14 and 16 floor toms. THey produce great rebound and are warm and full of life. I get a really complex unique sound out of them and with my unique cymbal set up and drum set up these drum heads really accent my individuality as a drummer. I play an all-maple Ddrum kit, and I use these on my toms (12 and 16) with Remo Ambassador reso heads. I just made the switch from clear Remo Emperors, and these are much more open and musical. The Emperors sounded very flat and cold in comparison. These heads need broken in pretty thoroughly, so I'd recommend tuning them up high and playing for a bit before trying to achieve your desired tuning. These are very dynamic, and both the strike tone and the resonance are clear and natural. These are louder than Emperors.

Picked this up orignally for my DW snare. I found it had a tight tuning range, but that just may be my own perspective. I finally tuned it nice, but had to add a dampener ring to tone down the excessive ringing. Could work nice on your snare, but might have to add dampeners. Better for toms.

Like a sassy gordita, these heads deliver saucily. They are loud, tight, warm, and thick, and they give a fat sound to your toms. They sound vintage and modern at the same time. Great for tom solos. I had some Aquarian Response 2 clears that I liked better for certain applications, but overall these sounded better for my Rock/Jazz style. I am going with Evans this time around because I want to see what the EC2 SST series has to deliver, but these are great heads in their own right. There's a reason these heads get 5 stars. Excellent value.

these heads are amazing. i've been playing for 5 years now, and for the longest time i was looking for a warm yet quick sound from my toms, and these deliver just that. i have mine tuned very low for a thick sound that just can't be matched. these were the first coated heads i've gotten for my toms and i'm so glad i did. they'll make your toms sing. you gotta get these.

I'm friends with a few drummers and one guy had a DW set. We went over to mess around a little on them and the set had these heads. I've been to a lot of concerts, been playing for most of my life, and I know when a drum kit sounds good. These were the best I have ever heard, even to this day. I even played a little on a studio set but they didn't sound as good because they weren't sporting these coated Aquarians. The best heads ever!!!!! A must buy!!!!!

I have tried all the heads tunned every possible way. These by far make the best heads for a 12inch 13 inch and a 16 inch tom. I recomend these to anybody looking for heads but if u want a snare head I recomend the Remo coated controlled sound reverse dot snare. They make the perfect heads for any set and if you dont know how to tune them well make them sound great with some aquarian studio rings.

After years of playing with Remo heads, I decided it was time for a change. I picked up a set of these for my '67 Ludwig kit and threw them on tonight. WOW! What a difference. Easy to tune and sound punchy and warm. I had tried both Ambassadors and Pinstripes on my Ludwigs and was never satisfied with the sound. These made my ears very happy! I highly recommend trying these out.
