Axis

Massive cantilevered footboards provide unreal velocity and power.

This Axis A21 Laser Double Kick Pedal breaks through tradition with the longest and widest footboards available. Drummers can employ a greater range of movement with the symmetrical A21 Laser footboards which cantilever over the back of the base plates for increased leverage, and are 5"-wide at the base. Today's multiple stroke techniques are executed effortlessly with the extra margin of playable area, which conventional players will find to be an enhancement as well.

Laser engraving on the kick drum pedal's footboards make a smooth plane, but tactile surfaces where the laser has burned through the black anodize and created an aluminum oxide finish. The pedal's aluminum oxide has a slightly grainy tooth which allows for a nonskid surface.

A21 pedals including the laser double bass pedal have all the performance features of the Axis pedals with increased magnitude. The A21 was designed to accelerate the beater into the bass drum with greater force and velocity, and to incorporate the Variable Drive Lever for greater adjustability.

The 21° power forward beater angle has been integrated into the beater bracket to maximize the beater impact. The Variable Drive Lever settings farther forward produce a deeper footboard travel (more power), while settings aft ward result in increased speed.

Features:

straight out the box this pedal plays great. Super responsive  .  I noticed immediately that I could play faster and the heel toe technique is a lot easier to do with the huge footboard.

Quality:

built well. The drive shaft and u bolts are monsterous!

Value:

a pedal should not cost this much.

Overall:

IF you can afford this pedal. It seriously worth considering. My only complaints are that it took a very long time to get it and that it does not come with a case. Other than that , I love it!

Axis pedals are the best. I have been using them for 6 years, and the new A21 Laser is by far the best they have developed. These wide pedals are perfect for my style and technique.

Durable, and quiet.

All pedals can get expensive. Axis are the best value for the money.

Very Fast Pedal

At first I wasn't sure about buying the pedal because of the cost but once I got it and played it I was very pleased. I'm a 45 year old trying to get back into playing out a couple of times a month after being out of it for 5 years. My old DW-5000 doesn't even come close and my sons tama cobra jr. wasn't bad but this A21 made me feel 30 again.I noticed improvement immediately.I'm faster and smoother, can't wait untill I have more practice. The heal toe method isn't as easy as I thought, but nothing comes easy without hard work.My 20 year old son talked me into it and I'm glad.I play classic hard rock and some hair band stuff.Metallica one has a double bass part in it during the middle of the song and I used to struggle with it and now I can play it with ease. The pedal was easy to adjust and great right out of the box.Spend the money you won't regret it.   Mike

Speed and workman ship of the A21 are far superior of any other pedal that I've played. I was a machinist for 20 years so I can apricate the the craftsmanship.

Greatest. Pedal. Ever.

No one wrote a review so I figured I would. First of all let me say that these are the best pedals I have ever bought. They look fantastic, but the feel is even better. They are extremely smooth. I play some metal/hardcore music so of course, there's some fast double bass. These pedals work perfect for that. They are extremely balanced unlike the Demon Drives, where the pedals are actually too light. You can go blazing fast on them and when needed, they can pack quite a punch (granted you have the right technique. Don't think that if you buy these, you will automatically become a god). There is no chain either. It is a metal bar, which makes this pedal extremely responsive. The slave pedal is also a metal bar so even that is equally as responsive. Another good thing is the actual pedal (or should I say longboard). Unlike the DW9000's the whole board responds. No more annoying block at the bottom of the pedal (anyone else hit that other than me?). Now onto the beaters. They definitely are not the best beaters I have ever used. They don't really give you a nice slap or punchy sound. I recommend getting some tama iron cobra beaters. Other than that, if you're looking for a really good, high quality pedal, save up that extra money and get these. You will not regret at all.
