I just bought the new Mapex Raven Set, AAX hats, 6 crashes, 2 rides, a China....and these. They are by far the best part of my set. I got these pedals as well as the Mapex Raptors to try both. I am used to Pearls' "heavy" Powershifter series. The Mapex are much like the Pearls in the sense they are heavy and pack a lot of punch. So I anchored the Axis down and had a go. Hated them, but I said to myself, there is absolutely NO way they charge this much for pedals that are terrible. I adjusted the springs as tight as they could go, spent a few hours on them...and I will never go to another pedal as long as Axis keeps their products like this. It is a breeze to do any double pedal combos including a roll for 5 minutes straight...I love these things and as far as build quality...I would let you throw them off an overpass...and im pretty sure it wouldn't break much. I have no complaints...the only possible thing that could be included would be a set of heavier springs, for nearly Six hundred bills, a set of springs wouldn't be too much to ask...great product Axis. Keep up the innovation.

Be careful if your shopping for a pedal, don't just order these based on what other people say they have a verrrryyyy different feel much much much different than iron cobras or pearl eliminators. I'm sure they are good pedals for people who like that direct drive feel but they aren't for everyoneIf you use the heel-toe technique for double kicking its difficult to use. So be for-warned, solid pedals but not for everyone.

Comments about Axis Longboard X Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I have owned this pedal for five years. The first year, the driveshaft broke. The replacement was, however, much sturdier and has lasted up until now with NO problems
Action is super smooth, but kind of funky to get used to at first, especially when switching from a chain or strap.
If you want speed AND power, you will have to invest in some heavier beaters. The stock beaters are very light. The long pedal boards are nice. Your feet can go wider when swiveling, adding more power.
Pedal is very adjustable as well. You'll have no problem finding something you like.
It fits best in mic'ed or triggered settings.
Lastly, it sits a bit off center on most drums, which means it's not hitting the very center of the drum. Something to keep in mind.
Overall, I would recommend this ONLY to extreme metal, triggered, or hard-hitting players.

Comments about Axis Longboard X Double Bass Drum Pedal:

These pedals react exactly to what your foot is doing, it almost feels like you are just playing on the floor with no pedal under your foot. They are so smooth and powerful; when I first put them on my bass drum it was shaking all over the place because they are so powerful. Because the footboard is so long, you can get many different feels from the pedal depending on where your foot is on the pedal. It's not like other pedals where only one "sweet spot" on the pedal works, either, it has good response and power everywhere. The beater has a good balance of power and speed, and I like that it's rubber and not felt. The hoop clamp is a little bit hard to get on and off, mainly beacuse there is so much velcro on the bottom of the pedals so it always gets stuck to the floor when I'm trying to attach it but its really easy to tighten and loosen; its just a knob/key type thing that you would see on any other hardware. I feel that the pedal height is fine where it is, I would prefer to have the a series to fine tune the footboard heights even more, but it feels fine right out of the box. If you have the money, I suggest buying the A series, but you will probably have to buy a new beater because not many people like them, but for quite a bit less, these definitely are worth it. One more thing, they can be converted into two singles if you get another spring assembly for about as much as it cost to upgrade to A longboards, you just have to put it on the mount on the left side of the slave pedal (There is already a slot for another beater on that side)

Comments about Axis Longboard X Double Bass Drum Pedal:

                  Axis X longboard pedals
well i must say that these pedals are amazing to play with, i've owned them before a few years ago and don't know why i sold them the first time. They're great for speed, hard rock, blues, extreme deathcore metal and all other metal genre's. i've owned many pedals in my day. i've had, Tama Iron Cobra and Speed Cobra pedals, Pearl Powershifter, Eliminator and demon drive pedals, Gibraltar, Mapex, DW 9000 and 5000, and i must say that the Axis X longboard and A series pedals out perform all of them!! This is my opinion but i've been playing for 11 years doing all genre's of music. I mainly play hardcore, deathcore, speed and alternative metal on my free time. the band i play in is a hardcore alternative metal. The only thing i don't like about these pedals is that there is no pedal hieght adjustment without moving the beater, but you can however get the Axis Sonic Hammer beaters so you can get that option.

The performance of the pedal is beyond anything i could imagine! very quick response and very smooth action and the slave pedal feels exactly the same as the main pedal and is much more smoother then the Tama Speed and Iron Cobra's. Pearl Demon Drives has good response and are fast but lack the performance for me, the Axis pedals have no problem with that. The Axis X double pedal does have a much different feel from Chain Driven pedals, there is no chain slack when your footboard comes back up and you go to hit the bass drum head and skip that beat. with the Axis, the footboard stays exactly with you're feet and does not leave. the direct link keeps it from doing that! With the Axis pedals, if you play extreme speed metal or deathcore, i highly recommend these because when you hit the 200bpm-240bpm it does not take much effort to go that fast with these pedals!!

Most people i've seen put that you should not use these pedals for blues or jazz? don't listen to them, I also play in a blues soul R&B cover group and these pedals work great in the matter. Just toy with the spring tension and the heigth of the beater and footboard and you will find that sweet spot. Doing doubles and triplets is pretty easy to do with this pedal as well espiecally if you do the heel-toe technique.

The built quality of the Pedal is very nice, rock hard and very sturdy and will last you a long time. The first time i owned these pedals i had them for two and a half years and there was nothing wrong with them. With all the other pedals i've had in the past, i never had them for over a year! i only sold them because i wanted to give other brands of pedals a shot! i love Axis pedals and will probably stick with them for the rest of my drumming days!!

Great pedals!!! I highly recomend these to anyone who plays consistant doublebass 200 bpm and over. My only minor complaint with these is that it is very difficult to do heel toe with these unless you move the beaters about 7 or 8" away from the bass drum head. However, these pedals are so smooth that i learned how to do heels up at around 230 bpm on my first day using them. If you are looking to dramatically improve your speed and endurance with double bass then these are a must!

Switched over to Axis pedals from Speed Cobras. I think now I understand why all the death metal guys use the longboard pedals; it takes way less energy to play double bass at 200 BPM or above. I have been playing on them two weeks now and while for me I can't hit as hard with them, the hits are more consistent especially with my left foot which is weaker than my right. My only complaint is that it SEEMS to me harder to do double strokes but that could just be my current settings on the pedal.

Comments about Axis Longboard X Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I absolutely love my new Axis X-L2 Longboard double pedal! Currently being used as "two individual single pedals" on a double bass midi kit and/also as a double pedal configuration on single bass acoustical drumkits.

I now own "four sets" of "new" top-notch double pedals:
                            *Pearl Eliminator II
*Tama Iron Cobra (All Chrome Limited Edition Collectors Series, not many of these made)
                            *Pearl Demon Drives
                            *Axis X-L2 Longboards

.....The Axis X-L2 Longboards straight-up out performs them all with quiet smoothness, speed, agility, adjustment access, & very light-weight comfortable feel for any style of play. I don't use the Axis beaters that came with them. I often use round wood beaters too. Even with Beater Patches on kick heads, the Axis beaters tend to cause an impressionable "DENT" type place in the heads. I use the Tama Dual-Sided Bass Drum Beaters with beater rod weights (the Nylon side for thicker punch sound in recordings & LOUD musical environments, ..or the felt side for soft warmer needs. From now on, my kick sound will be incorporated with midi technology & ddrum trigger system). These Tama Beaters give just a little more weight to the kick drum chop feel I prefer that works fine for me. I can fly & soar smoothly on these pedals without any unwanted interferences of wobbly offset extension slave rod warping feel ruining the momentum of incredibly fast action. Sometimes extra slaving parts are comparative factors as to why things don't work right or feel good trying to make it happen. I definately prefer playing double bass on two individual surfaces with two individual pedals as opposed to only two in one surface set-up via slave extension parts.... "If you're going to play double bass, why not just play on a double bass drum set-up" and ride the true ride!? I know many factors are involved with that reason why we use double bass pedal rigs for single bass..

The Axis X-L2 Longboards, either as individual pedals or as a double slave type pedal set-up are Fantastic!!! "Get Them Now!" via Musician's Friend.

My other double pedals are great in their own ways too & the purposes they serve, but the action to make it all happen best is with the Axis X-L2 Longboards! (period)
