Dry, clean and articulate.
These Bosphorus Hi-hats from the Antique Series deliver very dark tones with defined "chick" and great stick definition. The tops and bottoms are hand-lathed as pairs for a perfect match.
The Antique Series marries the two lathing patterns found on the Traditional Series and the Turk Series. These cymbals offer the brilliance of a classic, lathed cymbal and the dryness of a raw, unlathed cymbal. The top side of each cymbal features an unlathed bell and a narrow strip of unlathed cymbal approximately half way between the bell and the edge. The bottom side of each cymbal is completely lathed.

Everything you hope for in an authentic Turkish cymbal. My hats are maybe a little heavier than I expected, but they swing and sing. Perfect for most any jazz, funk, pop/rock application. Very musical. Check them out on the cymbalsonly website. I was frustrated that I could not find at any local GCs to see and try in person. Since I have had excellent customer service through MF I took a chance. Glad I did! I have owned and played plenty of Z/P/S' over the years. Don't kid yourself. They are not the same as handmade Turkish cymbals. They don't feel the same, they don't play the same, they don't sound the same. These are special. Do yourself a favor and try out the Bos.
These cymbals are beautiful. I was reluctant to order them without trying them first, but after trying out the other cymbals I had my eye on, I figured why not? Great stick definition. Nice 'chic' sound. They are pretty thin hats. If you're looking for something a bit heavier I'd reccomend zildjian avedis quick beats. However, these hats are SO musical and have a dryness that cannot be matched. They are great of jazzy and funky beats that are active or require keeping time on the hi hat. I wouldn't reccomend playing anything too heavy on them because they are so light (because my favorite music is death metal) and could break more easily. On top of all that good stuff, they look cool. And that is what is important, right?
