I've had this set for a little over a year, and I'm very pleased with it. The bass is pretty versatile, I have emad heads on it with an evans eq pad, and it sounds sounds great. The snare is surprisingly high-pitched, which I like, but it might not be suitable for all styles. The toms are just okay, they are probably the weakest part of the set.The stock head are terrible, of course. The bottom heads were like saran wrap, so be sure to replace them. The best quality, and also the biggest flaw, is the finish. I have the orange, and it is BEAUTIFUL. I have never seen a set whose finish I like more. The problem is that the finish is very fragile, and prone to cracking, scratching, and chipping. I live in North Dakota, so they've been subjected to some temperature changes, and now the snare has lateral cracks in the finish running all along the drum.

I'm a former pro, now old hobbyist. Been playing maple, poplar, birch & mahogany for 43 years. In the past five years, I've bought a new relatively cheap set (except for a Starclassics set) I sold to get another one every year. Had settled on the great sounding chinese 100% birch sets sold as Ludwig, PDP & others (added 2.3mm hoops & good heads). These ddrums were a great deal, had old-school sizes & features I wanted so (now sad to say) I sold my Pacifics and bought these. Its a good thing I only play in my sunroom. These record pretty well but would never cut through live & unmiced. I have tried a multitude of different heads and can only get any brightness and volume at all from 1-ply clears, which I hate to play, on the toms. I don't know if it's the cross-lamination of ash plies, the very thick shells or the questionable bearing edges. I also don't like the tom tone. My 12" PDP would go as high as the ddrum 12" and lower than the ddrum 14". The ddrum snare (coated head w/dot underneath) and bass (with EMAD2, no pillow) do truly sound fantastic but I can't recommend these overall to a gigging drummer (not to mention trying to haul these sizes around if you can find a large enough bass case).

WTF?!?

By AlexMyers

from Texas

I ordered the 24" ddrum on April 2, 2010. It was on back order and i was told i would get it in around 4-6 weeks. After 3 months of waiting and them pushing the shipping date back, they told me that i should pick another set because i was "most likely not going to receive this one." I cannot find another set with a 24" bass drum which is very disappointed because that is all i wanted. Thanks Ddrum.

Great Drums!

By Seth!

from Stuart, FL

So I bought these drums to replace my Dominion Ash 5 Piece set that was banged up good when shipped. I gotta tell you. I'm glad I switched! Both good sets but this set has more, how you say? "Pop" to it. It's more responsive. The only thing is the snare drum even with after market heads. ( Which I bought for all my drums ) Has some unwanted overtones but the whole set was very easy to tune and the 20x22 bass drum really gives that thunder punch feel that every drummer wants. Just get some overtone gel for the snare drum and your good to go!

i read many reviews and watched many videos on this kit, but personally i took the chance and bought it, and OMG! if you get the tuning perfect, the snare pops so perfect and the bass drum has so much depth in it, heart pounding if i do say so! overall, i give em 5 out of 5

About the Color

By Vatersticks44

from Undisclosed

I bought the orange color kit about 10 months ago. When I was looking at the picture they have here (and on most other internet drum stores) the set looks like a very bright orange. I want to say that it is much, MUCH deeper in color than as shown. I f you look at the top of the bass drum (above the lighted area), you start to get close to the actual color.

BOOOOOMMMM!!!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought this kit sight unseen because it was in the scratch and dent section and I heard good things about them. When they arrived I was amazed that such an inexpensive drum kit had such a nice finish and big sound. The kick drum HAMMERS!.I put a superkick II and evans G2 clears on the toms. This kit sounds great live, especially if your a heavy player like me.

Ddrum Dominion Player AMX....

By Vatersticks44

from Undisclosed

So I got this kit for Christmas (a pretty sweet gift), and I set it up that day. The first thing I noticed was that the bass drum is HUGE. It gives a great 'thud' sound when tuned loose and a nice punch when tightened a bit. It is a struggle, however, to find a bag or case large enough for it. The snare drum is great as well. It gives a sweet crack when tuned high (not too high or it starts to sound like a marching snare almost). The stock heads aren't anything special, so get some replacements. Also, the paint is very thin and chips fairly easily. Overall, this kit is great and I would recommend it to anybody.

WOW!!!

By shameow

from Davenport, IA

I bought this drum set for my son a week ago and I threw on some Evans EC2 heads and my old Sabian XS20 cymbals and all I could say was WOW. I own a DW kit and this kit sounds just as good or better than it! I would trade my son for this kit but I am sponsored by DW so I cant...

An awesome value

By doublesuited_1

from St. Louis

I've been drumming for over 13 years, and this kit is just an amazing value for the money. Just be SURE to replace the heads. The only other drawback is the d-suspension mount. It sucks, and it's way too easy to knock your tom out of tune my by moving it a little. I'd suggest a snare stand for the tom.Oh, and no need for another snare. This one sounds JUST fine.
