Another source of percussive expression is within your grasp.

ddrum's Deccabon drums are 6" in diameter and tuned to represent specific notes in the scale, as each varies in depth. But rather than simply providing the eight notes in a given octave, ddrum has expanded the scale by offering depths from 6" to 24" for more tonal variation and control.

This set includes 14" and 16" black fiberglass Deccabons with a double-braced stand for additional voicings around the kit, tuned melodic passages, or just the right amount of mayhem to make a proper statement.

      Nice sound, pathetic heads, inconvenient

            Comments about ddrum Deccabons:

I just got the 10, 12, 14 and 16" deccabons. They sound quite nice, and are obviously a lot cheaper than the Tama Octobans. However, the heads are pathetic. I am not even a big hitter, and yet chalky flakes are flying off the stock heads with each hit, covering my floor, hi hat, snare and a timbale I have to my left. I plan to change the heads soon, but why can't ddrum sell them with better quality heads?

Equally inconvenient is the placement. If you set them up linearly using the supplied tom mounts that may work for you. But I wanted them in a 2x2 configuration, since I don't have that much space, and because it is more convenient for me to play specific fills in that configuration. It was royal pain to set them up the way I wanted with the single tom mounts supplied by ddrum, and I had to use a double tom mount to get the job done. I have no idea if I will be able to quickly repeat this on stage.

I was also unhappy that even the badges are different for the 10/12 and the 14/16 units.

Bottom-line, the price is right, the sound is fine, but lack of attention to details makes this a less-than-great purchase.

just got these bad boys. I noticed ddrum changed them a bit. no longer glossy black like in the pics and the lugs are different. I just noticed in the light they are semi transparent, awsome!!!! you can see youre hand inside the shell when light hits them . I think its just a semi transparent black fiberglass with no paint. more professional look. they are awsome and sound wicked!!!!! I actualy like the big change ddrum did to them.

            Comments about ddrum Deccabons:

I bought these things and right out of the box they sounded great. I really don't like the mounting system but I worked with it. If you tune the 14" high pitch and the 16" medium low pitch they get the most deep tone and sounds so goooood!!!

            Comments about ddrum Deccabons:

I decided to buy these despite not being able to hear them first. First off, the bad things are the heads they come with are CRAP, so get some Remo Emperors or Ambassadors for them, the finish picks up fingerprints like crazy, and they are not packed well from the manufacturer (can slide around). They would be impossible to break though; fiberglass is tough. They sound nearly identical to Octobans, with a few more annoying overtones; just tighten them way up and most will go away. Even after the heads were seated and tightened fully, there are still some wrinkles (I suspect Octobans have this problem too; I?ve inspected the bearing edges and they are nice). Like Octobans, their famous tone is only when heard from a mic inside the open end, so don?t be scared by how they sound un-mic?ed. The stand is sturdy and adjustable; even has a place to stack a cymbal stand or maybe set up some other Deccabons in the square fashion like Octobans. Overall, great for the price!
