Ive been playing drums for 5 years now, this is my 3rd kit, and proudly, my best. I heard alot of ddrum, and alot of artists are switching to ddrum, so I thought I would give this kit a try. The Bass drum sounds HUGE, real big raw sound; the 12" tom resonates perfect, the floor tom literally growls, and my favorite, the snare is superb, nice big marching snare pop (depending on how you tune.) This kit is simply amazing!
I've owned this kit for a few months and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a powerful rock sound. It's probably not the best kit for jazz, but has a BIG sound.
I've had this set about two years now, and it is absolutely amazing. The snare cracks like a custom piece. The toms are punchy and rich. The bass drum literally shakes the windows in my basement. It's loud and looks great on stage. This is an amazing kit all around. I haven't had any trouble with hardware or anything. I recommend getting an evans emad for the bass drum head, talk about powerful. Buy this set.
I'm a session player. Not famous but I get called a bunch. Anyway I hate lugging around my Pearl birch session beauty so I bought this to lug on gigs. What a mistake...in a good way this kit sounds great no matter what style I play And it's prettier than I thought it would be. Now I want to lug something else around so I won't scratch this one!lol Also I just recorded this kit using minimal micing. Basically One Condenser two feet from kick One sm 57 above kick but between toms and one overhead condenser. Amazing response and articulate sound. I am in Awe truly.
These drums are simply amazing. This is my second kit and it very well may be my last unless something tragic happens to them. My band plays shows often and im friends with drummers who play top end DW and Pearl kits and these drums sound just as good as any high end kit. They sound amazing, lots of tone from the toms, lots of crack from the snare, and lots of thud from the bass and the finnish is AMAZING. I would recomend replacing the heads on both the top and bottom to get the best sound possible.
I Bought the Ddum Dominion 4pc. Maple about 4 months ago, and I love it! The only reason I put a 4.5 as a feature rating, is because you cant buy add on toms and things. The bass drum sounds like a massive subwoofer (I have a aquarium super kick II). (All drums have evan g2 coated except bass drum.) The rack tom has a very impressive "dong" sound. Then the floor tom has a very big sound to it. I will have to say its a tie between the bass drum and the snare, because the snare has an amazing crack to it, and its very easy to tune. Overall great kit! I use paiste Pst 5 cymbals with it and they go well.
I've played mapex, pearl and sonor kits and this is by far the best. ddrum rules and the finish is alot better than it looks in the picture. In case you didnt know the snare is 13 by 7, the bass drum is 22 by20 and the toms are 16 by 12 and 12 by 8.
I had been searching for quite a while for a $600-$1000 set that was great sounding but with custom-built looks. This set offered the best of both sound and looks. The tone of the toms is amazing and the bass drum is thunderous! I have gotten great comments from sound techs at various venues at how heavy duty the hardware is too, which keeps them happy since I don't have to keep re-tuning. I'd recommend this set to any rock drummer.
I received the drums set recently to replace my horrible entry level kit, and let me tell you, iy was worth every penny! The snare cracks, and almost sounds like a marching snare. The high tom sings (I would argue its my favorite peace of the set) and the floor tom gives a nice deep sound. The bass is very loud, and very crisp, with no real overtones to speak of. The hardware that comes with it look great, (even the stock heads are surprisingly good, nothing special but not bad at all!) and is high quality, although the only thing I have to complain about is the clamp and arm for the tom that comes with the kit isnt that great. Other than that, this is hands down the best drum set iv'e ever played, and would highly recommend it!
I bought this kit about two months ago because I needed something: A - Simple, B - High quality, and C - Inexpensive. I really got all three with this kit. It's got everything you need to lay down a solid groove in a variety of styles. The 100% maple shells have great tone (although I replaced the "made-in-china" remo factory heads with clear emperors on top and ambassadors on the bottom to really bring out the focus and resonance). The snare (with an emperor X head) has a good combination of crack, depth and tunability, and the kick drum (with a remo powersonic head and a custom "Bass Drum O's" port hole in the fron head) has a good deal of punch and depth. The projection is awesome as well. This set will easily fill any small to medium-sized venue un-mic'ed, and even your ghost notes can be heard over a decently loud bassist and guitarist. The finish, combined with the black chrome hardware, is stunning, especially under the right light. The only areas in which this set misses are the factory heads (which Ddrum does surely to keep the price down, so not a biggie), and the hardware is not the most stellar I've ever seen, but then again, I've played on some very high-end custom kits, and the hardware is still good considering. If you're looking for a simple, inexpensive, professional quality kit, you really can't go wrong with this one. I've been very satisfied with the quality of its sound.
