this drum set is a shell pack so what more do u want? the bass drumm comes with 4 little legs that holds it from slipping wich is great, the clams are solid and the heads are good not great but what do you expect they are stock heads.EVERITHING IS NICE.
Im gonna be honest, I have owned many drums kits tama, yamaha, worldmax, pearls etc, and honestly this drumkit its the best sounding drumkit that i have owned, im being honest cause i know people wants to buy the right kit and i like when people are honest so you wont be dissapointed. This kit for the money its almost hard to believe, many people mostly say bad things about drum kits wich are great because they dont know how to tune one so who doesnt know how to tune should stay quiet, this drum set like i said honestly sounds terrific the alder wood its perfect and i didnt even needed to muffle the bass or toms because they sound great without muffling, the snare drum is the best sounding drum on the kit sounds solid and it gives u that crack for rock music and other styles very well, like i said honestly this is a fantastic drumkit for the price and even if this was more expensive it doesnt matter its awesome all the way. This kit it can be compared to a yamaha stage custom that i have.

Overall the Reflex Kit by ddrum is a really well made intermediate level drum kit for the asking price. The use of Alder wood gives the shells a really amazing ring, but it's not the lower even tone I was hoping for. The wrap on the shells are glued on really well so they are nice and secure, and the hardware is really solid, it's certainly a step above what you would find on the entry level kits. It looks good and it plays good. I took off all the stock heads and put my Remo's them before I played the kit, so I can't comment on whether the stock ddrum heads are good or not.

The major thing that lead me to rate this kit as 'Average' is because it was not as advertised which decreased my confidence in the company, not sure where the ball was dropped along the way so I don't want to point fingers. This kit advertised as a 22x20 bass drum with wood hoops, but when the UPS guys delivered the box I knew there was no way a 20in bass drum could possibly fit in the packaging, and sure enough when I opened the box and measured the bass drum it was only a 22x18 kick and it came with regular hard plastic hoops and not the wood ones as shown. When I contacted MusiciansFriend to let them know about the issue, they had the warehouse email me back, even though I asked and was told I would get a phone call, and all they did was say yes the bass drum is an 18 and not a 20 with plastic hoops, sorry about that, if we can help you further please call us back. So, unfortunately this purchase lowered my consumer confidence, but oh well, what can you do in this day and age of profit driven mass production except grin and bear it. It's still a decent enough kit for the money and wasn't worth raising a big stink over the bass drum being 2 inches shorter then advertised.

Best drum set I have ever had!

By Christian Taylor

from Sacramento, CA

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

Overall this kit is a great kit, I have the black finish personally because white shows dirt and flaws etc. which I don't want to see and clean my drum shells every 5 seconds. The sound quality is great the kick drum is a cannon I love the kick drum. I am very surprised how awesome this set is. I think you are stupid if you don't at least consider buying this drumset for yourself. If you have a lot of money to spend however on a nicer drum kit, feel free too. But if you are a starving musician/college kid like I am, this kit is perfect for you!
First of all I did a lot of research before I bought this kit but now that I bought it, it was worth it. Don't blow off my review of 10 like I'm lying because this is my full honest review of this set. This kit is seriously the best drum set I've ever had. I've only had one other drumset before this one, but it doesn't matter if you play drums as a hobby or tour around with a band. This drumset is perfect for all types of true musicians. The price is fantastic I couldn't ask for anything better.

.
They give you stock drum heads and tom mounts including the floor tom. The rack tom mounts are rock solid steady no need to worry if they aren't good enough because they are. The stock heads are actually pretty good, they aren't the best but they have a good sound quality even though they are from the warehouse. After a while though I suggest replacing the stock heads with some nice drum heads. This is just a shell pack plus hardware no cymbals, drum pedals, high hat stand, included. You have to buy all of the extra stuff on your own.

I give this set a 10 I couldn't find anything wrong with this. The sound quality is great, the durability etc. is all really good.
Great value in my opinion. This set is really cheap which is great knowing that this is an amazing drumset.

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

Just buy these. Amazing drums.
I love the sizes of the kit. The snare cut very very well , the bass drum is a real monster ! But my favourite part of this set is the toms. They have a natural beautiful sound with a nice attack and a true tone. Love it !
The quality is just fantastic, the wrap is super durable, the tom mount's are very sturdy. Simply change the heads with your favorite choice of head and you got a professional sounding drum kit !
Simply the best value in the drum industry. With other company's , if you want to have a drum kit whit this price point , you will have a cheap-ass beginner drum set.

    ddrum Reflex: Great Deal

    By Typo

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

The ddrum Reflex is a good kit. Learn how to tune well, and it will sound great. With clear Emperors over Ambassadors (no muffling), the toms have a strong attack, warm tone, and short decay. The snare drum likes higher tunings, and has a nice, crackly crack. The bass drum has a nice punch (like most bass drums), and sounds the way I like with about a 3 inch port hole and no internal muffling except the felt on the Super Kick II batter head. I can't say I would buy this kit again, but I'm anything but dissatisfied (in other words, I am satisfied). If you are looking for a good beginner/intermediate kit, but can't (or don't want to) choke up a couple hundred more dollars for the bigger brands, I recommend the ddrum Reflex.

The worst part about this kit is that the wrap on the drums came wrapped with a plastic wrap (like Saran wrap), and although it wasn't difficult to get off, it was an extremely tedious task. However, I wasn't as thorough to remove all the hardware. I just gently pulled, and it all came off pretty cleanly. It doesn't really bug me that there still are pieces underneath all of the lugs, as I can't see them. There is also a little sliver on the tops of all the lugs. I don't have enough experience with wrapped drum shells to know if this is a common protective practice.

Also, just as a side note, I have NOT used this kit in any live situations, so I cannot comment on its performance with other instruments.
Some features set this kit apart from other similarly priced options. My favorite is the Dunnett snare strainer, which is better than most strainers that come with snare drums of other intermediate kits. There are rubber feet on 4 of the bass drum lugs which help stabilize the bass drum, although they do little to prevent shifting on carpet that has padding underneath. This is understandable, and less of a criticism than something to simply keep in mind. The extendable spurs work well to keep the bass drum in place if the rubber feet don't work for you, as they didn't for me. The tom and snare hoops are advertised as 2.3 mm, which is especially great for the snare drum. Although I'm don't think of myself as a hard-hitter, I rim shot often, and I haven't had any problems with the snare detuning. The 2-lug suspension mounts are good, but they don't have much give, so they end up feeling somewhat rigid. They don't seem to choke the shells, however. Furthermore, there are memory locks for height positioning on the tom L-rods and the floor tom legs, the latter being extremely helpful. The 10" and 12" toms have 6 lugs per side, and the 14" snare, 16" floor tom, and 22" bass have 8 lugs per side. The 10" and 12" toms are also are traditionally sized (7" and 8" depths, rather than 8" and 9" depths), so I can position the toms relatively low for easy playing. And yes, the toms do come with all the necessary mounting hardware, for anyone who wanted to know. All you need are stands to attach them to.
The ddrum Reflex kit is satisfactory in terms of quality. All the hardware is solid. The bearing edges are smooth. The shells are in round. The wrap isn't bubbling. I did encounter a problem with Aquarian heads being a tight fit, but Remo's are fine. There isn't anything that is particularly noteworthy, good or bad. The quality certainly isn't the worst, but it isn't the best either. The word "decent" comes to mind.
Any quibbles I've written about in this review can nearly be dismissed due to the pleasant price. I see this kit as a close competitor in the intermediate range, which includes the Tama Silverstar or Superstar, the Mapex Meridians, the Yamaha Stage Customs, the Ludwig Element, or the Gretsch Catalina. Although the ddrum Reflex doesn't have the long history and reputation behind it as those other brands do, they are all more expensive. Are you paying for the name, or actual differences in quality? I do know that some of the other kits have lacquer finishes, which could be the main contributor to the higher prices. I can't say for sure, but I'm glad I took a chance on this great deal, because I am not disappointed.

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

extremely happy with my purchase. After the show I played with them. My friends and fellow musicians agreed on how wonderful they sound. They hit it on the mark "focused tone" and versatility. Love it.
bass drum has 4 rubber stoppers to help prevent shifting as well as 2 usual legs. great feature. the floor tom's legs are easy to adjust, plus they have spot locks for easy set up. great features.
drums look fantastic, sound great. I'll replace the stock heads when need be. All in all, should need a new drum set for years.

    Shockingly Amazing (for the price!)

    By Jordan Unverferth

    from Ohio

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

This drum set was my second drum set in my life. The price seemed a little sketchy and it seemed as though the price would reflect the quality of the kit but when I received it, I was blown away. Most stock heads on drum kits aren't the best and should be replaced within the first few months to get your preferred sound and tone, but I see no reason in replacing mine for a while. The bass drum is very punchy and does not require a blanket or pillow to be placed inside it to muffle the sound a bit, depending on how you tune it. My only complaint is to make sure you have cymbal stands to fit the amount of drums you get in the shipment. I am unable to mount my first tom because I have no extra cymbal stand to mount it on. Other than that, this kit is completely worth the price and I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Really great drums for the price!

        By kevin chen

        from Southern California

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

My daughter needed to graduate from a junior kit to a full size kit but I didn't have a whole lot of money to spend so I bought this drum set becasue I read very good reviews about it. I also did a lot of research on it and the wood they used and what not. I didn't have a lot of money so the low price point is nice. I was really pleasantly surprised at how well made it is. Floating toms, huge bass drum, color coded hardware, memory locks good rock sound. In looking into these, I noticed that CRUSH drums had a similar kit but priced at 699. after some research, it turns out the CRUSH guys used to work at DDRUM. The CRUSH set is China maid while the DDRUM set is Taiwan made. I'm thinking they lowered the priced to compete with the CRUSH set. They both look very comparable so at the end, it came down to price point...Well done DDRUM.

**The only complaint I have is that all the shells including the bass drum had a protective plastic wrap around it when they arrived and the hardware was mounted on to the drums on top of the wrap so to take it off, I had to unscrew every single hardware mounted to cleanly get it all off.
Nice thick painted hardware on the shells. The wrapping on the shells are nice. Not great though.

Floating Tom mounts are rock solid! The memory locks are sweet!

The 4 mounted rubber feet at the bottom of the bass drum is a welcomed addition. It really keeps it from slipping.

The heads they come with are average though....I wanted to give this an 8 but the heads bumped it down to a 7.
Really well made hardware on the drums. The rims, mounts, bass drum legs are all painted to match. The bassdrum even has wood retainer hoops. That's not something you usually find in a lower priced kit. The heads they come with are on the lower end but hey, you just paid for a drum shell pack that has a lot of higher end appointments. Good quality for a great price!
Seriously, this is a great kit for a very good price!

this is my second drum set i have owned and it a fantastic drum set, the bass drum is amazing, the snare drum is the best thing in this whole kit, the only flaws are the rack toms are almost impossible to tune without new heads, floor is tough also, and the stock heads are mediocre. i play metal and this kit does the trick, the snare is for tight tuning clearly, absolutely amazing snare for metal drummers. Just like all bass drums, for that punchy sound u need a little bit of muffling and this one sounds fantastic, overall a GREAT kit for intermediate to professional drummer.

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

Ddrum has received a bad rep from its early days of drums. However, that era is long gone. Yet again Ddrum offers a killer kit for a killer price. The Reflex line came out and boasted it was the first all Alder wood kit, a wood with natural EQ and nice tone that guitars are often made from. I have to say, the kit sounds extremely well right out fo the box. The rack toms are pre-tuned to a nice pitch and tone and work well with the rest of the drums on the kit.

Before mentioning more on the sound, I would like to talk about the hardware. The Refelx series uses a suspension moun system on it's two rack toms (10" and 12"). The system works really well and is stylish in its own way as well. I have the White kit and it looks great. The Chrome of the mounts really adds a nice flare to the vibrant white and off-white rims on the drums. The kit only comes with lugs and mounting hardware, so stands to mount to as well as pedals and extra stands are separately sold.

Now back to the sound...simply put...the kit sounds great, especially for the price. For what you pay, you get a professional sound comparable to higher end Gretsch or Tama kits. Out of the box the toms and the snare are tuned and ready to go and have a really nice ring to them. The Kick and snare are my favorite. Throw some better heads on there and it'll probably make it even better. I am still using the stock ones.

Finally, I would like to mention some nice touches. Ddrum put rubber washers on virtually everything than can rattle or take away from the sound of the kit. This is something I haven't seen on my previous kit that was more money. They really did a great job - the kit has no mysterious sounds, just pure tone. The round faceoff lugs looks stylish and nice enough as well, boasting the ability to pop them open for mounting mics and small accessories.

Overall, if you don't mind a few wrap issues, this is a killer kit for killer price. It has a great sound, great look, as well as some features you find on higher price point kits. If you've been eyeing this kit...the reviews are accurate, it's great! Buy it and feel good about it!

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

This set is amazing. Pure and simple. I've been playing drums for around ten years and this is by far the most versatile kit I've ever played. I do home recording for rock, metal, punk and jazz. This set does it all.

I knew I was going to replace the heads fairly soon, because I favor the Evans G2 coateds, but the stock heads actually are NOT BAD. They are very weighty and help control those stock overtones you get on nearly every set. I must say I was very impressed.

The kick drum is pure gold. It has the most projection of any kit I've ever played.

The snare is perfect. Loosen the snare wires and use it for jazz, tighten them up a bit and it sounds perfect for any type of rockish music.

The Toms are beautiful. Perfect amount of attack, wonderful tone.

The suspension system is genius. You can set this kit up in any combination you are comfortable with.

If you are thinking about buying this kit, you are overthinking it. I've played a Gretch Catalina kit back in high school, and I believe this kit is far above it. And the price MF is asking for it, I mean this is just a steal.

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

I have this kit with evans onyx heads all around. I have been amazed with the sound. The alder wood creates at very live birch sound and are very responsive. It doesn't take much to get sound out of these drums. The quality is in line with the Gretch Catalina. I would recommend this kit to any level of player. DDRUM isn't playing around with this one. Best sounding bass drum on the market! If you want a worry free buy then get this kit now.

Comments about Ddrum Reflex 5-Piece Shell Pack:

I've had a drumset in my living quarters since high school. I'm going on Social Security in January, so that means a long time, kids. I've had Rogers, Slingerland, Gretsch and Ludwig, I happened to hear the ddrum Reflex Uptown kit demo'd when I was in the Twin Cities several years ago. My kit differs from what is for sale here only slightly, mostly a natural finish, different tom inventory (10, 12, 14 and 16), and a larger bass with wood hoops. Until I heard that demo I had mostly thought of ddrum as a trigger maker, and not much else. But I have to say that on that day I heard the most melodic and musical drum set, with real tone I had ever heard. I went shopping at once. I keep several Evans head sets at hand in case my mood or needs change. Right now Evans Black Chrome on all the toms. I think I'm leaning to the Evans Hydraulics as my favorites, though (I have blue...) I tune with a dial indicator type tuner and record all of my tuning settings in a notebook, and I use bearing edge lube. Speaking of, my set has great edges, but some times a clunker sneaks through, I guess. I am using the ddrum Kauri Wood snare right now, but the snare that came with my kit is very, very good, and can be tuned from a whip type crack to a mellow fellow. The point that I want to get across to beginning and intermediate drummers, and some advanced players, as well, is that the ddrum Reflex series might just be one of the most versatile kits on the market. It responds to head changes, tuning, and technique. It can play as technical as you want, or as loud and loose as the party demands. In the rehearsal room, the studio, or on stage, these drums will not let you down. You will not outgrow this drum kit in a short time. They are as sturdy as they are musical. The tone is amazing and rivals much more expensive kits. Oh, and they're a bargain! They might not do everything perfectly, but they do almost everything very well. And I like that.

This is a great kit for the price. I have owned it for a year now. And I do not regret this purchase. It gives off a great tone and a strong sound. The tom clamps grip on very well and stay locked in. The toms themselves are very powerful and give a nice strong hit. The bass really gives the "Boom" I was wanting in a bass drum, and it is nice having the bass separated from the toms unlike some kits. It makes transporting them that much easier. I can't fine a single issue with this kit. Just get it tuned up right, and it will do amazing things. Also, I love the 8-inch tom. It gives a nice tone and sounds great when you work it into some fills.
Overall, this is a great product. I do not once regret this purchase. I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice kit to take around and have fun.

I've been playing drums for around 15 years and I've had a few kits. This is by far the best sounding (and looking) kit I've ever owned. I LOVE the deep tone of kick drum and that it stands alone. The hardware is top notch quality. You just can't beat this quality for this price!

This kit is absolutely outstanding. It is amazing for the price. I was skeptical because of the price, but I ordered it with Evans heads and it has not let me down yet. It has the same qualities as a custom kit, but its over half the price. I've had mine for a little over 2 years and couldn't picture myself playing on anything else. If you're even considering it, buy it. It will not be a let down.
