Im addicted to snare drums. I think it can make or break a set. I own snares from , spaun, ddrum, pacific, dw, pearl, gretch, and pork pie, and I have to say this is one of my top 3. I decided one day to take a chance on it, i was orginally going to vent it with 2' 2 inch vents, but after hearing it, I just couldnt, I have the stock head on bottom with a remo emporer, on top. The tuning range isnt amazing, but it has 3 great spots, and the quality makes up for it, the paint, the wood, the rims, the tuning, all are amazing. Only things that are a must, is changing the batter head, changings snares, unless you like it dry. We had all made our first choice the spaun, but we had to change up at a huge show, and the sucker popped, loud, with crack and lots of maple tone. I'll end it with saying It has inspired me to by a whole ddrum set. If they keep up the same quality, and price, that may be all I buy from now on.

attention all drummers!i am not what you would call a tunning expert.however, this drum tuned up beautifully and rather quickly.it has a really good range. i jammed on it for aproximately 15 or 20 minutes. warmming up, and just about to rock the heck out .arrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!the snare clutch released and my whole groove was destroyed. i swiftly pulled the clutch back in to position and the same result.it's a shame . a crying shame .to have made a economically tasty snare and ruin it with a malfunctioning clutch.i am very displeased.BUT IT SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!

I recently purchased this drum in purple fade lacquer at a local guitar center. The particular instrument was missing a lug (buyer returned it after just robbing it of a lug after the drum guy left for the day.) Anyway, the guy I talked to slapped another low-mass lug from a different drum on it and I got it at cost! AMAZING tone from this drum once I put a coated Remo Controlled Sound batter on it. I also put an Evans Genera Resonant on the bottom and bought a Pearl 900 series snare stand to boot. The lug is barely noticeable and makes no difference in the overall sound and performance of this drum. It cracks like a firecracker with all the warmth of a full maple shell. Excellent projection and sensitivity along with flawless aesthetics make this drum a must have for serious drummers or those of us who collect snares. Kudos to ddrum!!!
This is probably the best snare I have ever played. In my 17 years of playing, live or recording, I have played on top notch Ludwig and pearl snares and this is by far the best. The throw off is fantastic and the rims and finish are amazing. The only minor complaints are the heads and snare wires. The top head is strong but rings and buzzes. The bottom head is just cheap. The snare wires are just a little thin. For a snare sounding this good and this affordable just change the heads. I use 2ply aquarian response head on top and hi energy on bottom and no muffling it sounds great. The snare wires sound ok and they don't buzz I prefer a little heavier wire cause I don't like to tighten them overly tight. If you want A great maple drum with great tone and looks and don't want to spend a ton buy this now.
I purchased this snare 5 months ago just because it was a deal that I couldn't pass up. All maple shell, die cast hardware, burst laquer finish, for this price? I brought it to a band rehearsal right after changing the heads and my band and myself were blown away. Great woody crack with a nice overtone which I love. A emporer x batter and ambassador snare side is a great combo on this drum along with a little moongel. This is a great snare for the money. I don't know how ddrum can even sell these at this price. Put a quality set of heads on it and you can't go wrong.
Everything from the Maple shell to the die-cast hardware, to the silkly smooth throw-off, this snare is it. If you're looking for a great snare, but can't afford big $$, this has all the quality of the big guns. Enjoy! I do!
I bought this drum about 2 weeks ago, and it is totally worth it! I play jazz, rock, funk, and if you want a versatile snare this is a good inexpensive choice! Change the factory heads though and get metal washers to replace the cheap looking nylon ones I put an evans Genera Dry batter and a Hazy 300 on the snare side and it sound awesome! The rimshots are deafening! The hoops look sweet, the finish looks sweet, this is one sweet drum!
but since I was 1 of about 75 people in the drum room , I couldn't really focus my hearing on it. Seemed like a very versatile and funky drum but the finish was nonstop sexy! For the price you can't go wrong.
This is a great maple snare! I got just the right tone I was looking for. It's a steal, get one!
Man when i first saw this snare in the store it was a must buy , it has a nice clean tone , i have done recordings with it and it sounds beautiful , it has a nice pocket sound and brightens up any room with its unique sound . I have Evans G2's on the top and bottom heads
I purchased this snare for a recording session that required something with a little higher range than my 7x14 Spaun snare. For the price, I thought I couldn't go wrong. This snare has become a permenant fixture on my kit now. It has a great crack, really good sensitivity(for a 7in deep drum), great cross stick sound, and the hardware and finish will compete with much more expensive snares. It is nice and balanced. The only issue is the stock heads. Put on your favorite batter and resonant....maybe some Fat Cat snappies and you will not know what to do with yourself. BUY IT!!!!
I recently purchased this drum and it is very attractive. The quality of the maple shell and die cast hardware is great. The sound is not great out of the box but with the right heads, new snare wires and good tuning this drum would be a very nice addition to your kit. However, the lugs on my drum did not exactly line up from top to bottom. This is a small flaw and maybe I'm just too picky, but for a new drum I would expect better attention to detail.
