I have been playing this pedal for ten years now. I haven't had to replace one thing on this pedal. They are hands down, the best pedal on the market. As smooth as it gets! I have played the Pearl, and it is nice, but there are a lot of moving parts. This gives it a lot of failure points, which is not a good thing when you're playing a lot of gigs. Buy this pedal and never worry about your pedal breaking again!!!

I got the 5000 TD3 single pedal a couple of weeks back.  It took a while to get used to it but that's to be expected with new gear.  But I will say that I love this pedal.  It's SOOOO smooth and sensitive and the construction is rock solid.  In fact, I found that I was able to play things that I was not able to play before and playing double strokes are easier.  It also is easier to play more dynamically.  I was playing super quiet today and it was great.  But I think my favorite feature (as cheesy as it sounds) is the heel plate.  It's knobby and is awesome when you're playing heel down.  It helps keep your heel in place and it's raised up just a bit which feels good to me.  I purchased this pedal because I wanted a professional grade pedal that I could use for years to come with the confidence that it wasn't going to fall apart on me as long as I maintain it.  I'd say it's perfect!

    Pearl Eliminator is better

I use the DW-5000 regularly because it is the school drumset's pedal.  I personally own a Pearl Eliminator Powershifter, and it's much much better.  It has more features like the adjustable heel and cams (and quad-beater).  The DW-5000 is way too stiff, and the spring tension alone isn't versatile enough to match most players' ideal desires.

I bought two of these for my double bass kit about a year ago, and I must say, they are the cleanest, smoothest, most sturdy pedals I've ever played. I like to play fast, really fast, and with out these, I'd be stuck doing rudiments out of some mediocre rock book instead of blowing my mind with some wicked double bass knowledge. I've tried other pedals( pearls powershifter, Iron cobra, PDP pedals) and not one of them can hold a candle to wonder that is the DW 5000 pedal.
