The DW 9500 is a VERY nice hit hat stand. The other reviews are positive and so is this one. Before purchasing, I compared it for an hour and a half with an Iron Cobra Lever Glide, DW 5500 and Gibralter Ultra Adjust. I did not compare it to the Eliminator because I already have one (which broke, hence my new DW 9500 purchase). Stands Delta bearing hinge makes for the smoothest action you could imagine from a hi hat. There is a spring tension adjustment Knurled washer which can be adjusted with a turn of of a drum bolt. Definitely not the most ergonomic design but it does work. I loved the action on my Eliminator so i wanted to achieve a similar feel with the DW. This is where it gets interesting......The DW will NEVER feel like the Pearl and as it turns out for me, it is a good thing. The Eliminator has limitless, and I mean limitless, options to achieve almost any possible feel.......footboard adjustment, cam switchouts, step tension adjustment, etc. The DW only has the knob turn for spring tension.....that's it. What the Pearl and every other stand to my knowledge lacks is that Delta 2 ball bearing hing on the foot plate and "floating" rod. I liked the quick snap and deep angled footboard curve with the Eliminator because it allowed for QUICK, PRECISE, accents, foot chokes and splashes. However, this is all there on the DW without the rigid "bounce" back from the rod following foot release. This thing is AS quick, with a floating feel that allows for the most versatile pressures. Limited on on options, no doubt. Expensive? You bet ya. But when your foot makes contact in the depressed postion and up, it feels like a bass drum pedal, not a rigid hi hat stand. Because of this, it is more confluent with the kit and the foot "chick" is absolutely without a doubt the clearest you will hear. That is what surprised me most. I was missing that with the Eliminator and didn't even know it. Pearl makes good products and i got my Eliminator the day they came out. it was an old, original model. The spring housing seperated from the stand base so it permanantly tilts now. Very good stand but it just can't compare IMO. I got the DW home and played it for 4 hours straight. I won't go back.

I am a long time fan of DW hardware. My personal opinion of the 9000 series hardware is mixed. I really did not enjoy the bass drum pedals. They just weren't for me so I eventually went back to the 5000 kick drum pedals. The Hi-Hat stand was nice while it lasted. I treat my gear very carefully and always keep it clean. that being saidm it is always on the move. I bought my first 9500 when they released it a few years ago. After two years it started to break down fairly quickly. I thought this was very odd. Considering my 5000's lasted for much longer than this. Pull rods bend and clamps and felts need to be replaced but the inside of the actual stand began to wear out. The pedal would drop to the floor after becoming disconnected from the chain, the threads that the pull rod wound into had become weaker and the rod would pull out completely while playing. The footboard stayed in tact but the screws that allow for it to fold up had become stripped.
As I said I take care of me gear especially one as pricey as this. It was never thrown around, or kept in a harsh environment, I never threw it in with my other hardwre, i always kep it seperate. I routinely cleaned it and performed maintenance on it. Still, it has become a problem piece in my kit. When the 9500 functioned properly, it functioned great. i like the feel of it more so than the 5000 series hi-hat stands. But it's lifespan was significantly shorter. Looking to buy a third one now I am suprised to see they are still so pricey. The 9000 series is spotty... The pedals are very particular and not for everyone and the snare stand has never worked 100% for me either. The DW name is essentially where the price is coming from. If the stand was $50-100.00 less that would mean something... Just give me a $250.00 price point. I would feel comfortable with that. To spend $300.00 on a stand that I have had problems with twice over, i am starting to question DW durability and what their name is actually worth.

Comments about DW 9500TB 2-Leg Hi-Hat Stand:
I was used to my old 5000 2 legged stand but over the years it became very wobbly and unstable. So I tried the 9500 and it is almost completely stable. The difference is vast, but my 5000 wobbled so much (a good 3-4 inches of lateral movement) that probably any new stand could have beat it. My favorite features of the 9500 are the slightly wider footboard (compared to the 5000) which adds to stability, the fold up footboard, the lateral bottom cymbal adjuster, solid construction, the solid clutch, the responsive quickness of performance and the tension adjust dial at the bottom which changes the feel to anything from a firm stomp to a soft pedal push. The only real issue is the price! DW should calm down a bit and lower the price to compete with Tama, Pearl and Axis. A hi hat stand is not the same as a drum set: there's not much you can do to make a stand "boutique" like you can with a kit. DW prices the stand like they do with their kits: way too much for what you get. That said, the quality of the 9500 is all there and if you're a DW fan, this is the one to get. Also good if you want consistent feel between your hats and other pedals, if you're all DW. For the price, I'm not all DW...
Comments about DW 9500TB 2-Leg Hi-Hat Stand:
I own DW drums, and mostly all DW 9000 series hardware...I must say that its a good stand...but not an awesome value or anything. The 2 leg design is not very stable..and the foot pedal fold up is super inconvienent. you have to loosen two key locks to move it and if you don't place it just right..the whole stand wobbles. In addition...the 9000 series stands are extremly heavy. BOTTOM LINE...unless you seriously know of a better stand...BUY IT. DW is the best all around company out there for drums. THey are consistantly good, well known for resale, and stand by their products if anything goes wrong. THanks for reading
Comments about DW 9500TB 2-Leg Hi-Hat Stand:
Great stand, solid construction, good stability, sensitive response, smooth action, and best of all, your hi-hat cymbals SOUND better. I only regret not purchasing it sooner, because the price suddenly jumped up by like $30.00.
Comments about DW 9500TB 2-Leg Hi-Hat Stand:
I think this is a great solid stand. To the problem the other user was having, Im not 100% percent sure but if Im not mistaken the 2 legged stand was created because 3 legs were too hard to work around a double pedal. If I was a Jazz player Id most likely use a single pedal in which case Id have a 3 legged hi hat stand for heavy hi hat work. I don't think you purchased the right product for your playing. I think the price is kinda high too.
Comments about DW 9500TB 2-Leg Hi-Hat Stand:
I had first seen another drummer using this stand a while back, and asked him how he liked it. Soon after, I bought one, and WOW! does it work great. Not only is it smooth, but it comes with two sizes of rods and has an adjustable tension dial. This is all i had dreamed for and more. Although the price was a little high, it was well worth it.

No one is going to knock you for not "liking" the stand...........heck, that is what seperates us as drummers, consumers and ultimately, people. Now, the problem you speak of........I had that problem initially as well. What I did was loosen the bolts that fold the footplate FIRST, making it absolutely flush with the floor. Then, I dropped the legs down until solid contact was made, all the while pushing the stand forward to give it it's best vertical alignment. I adjust/rotate the legs to where they are comfortable for me and THEN drop the spikes and lock them into place. I will admitt, with the legs postiioned at the 1 and 8 o clock postions that 8th notes can be slightly unstable. The best setting I have found is the standard 9 and 3 o clock. Heel toe, kick splashes.........rock solid this way. It did take some tinkering and as I mentioned in the other review, it's not the most ergonomic design. But it is rock solid when set up the way explained.........and SMOOOOTH! Plus, the "slushy" slightly open hat feel is unrivaled IMO. Warm wash with control you cannot achieve with just a rigid, quick setting.
Comments about DW 9500TB 2-Leg Hi-Hat Stand:
First off, let me say I'm officially through with DW. This is the third piece of hardware that I've bought from them that is shoddy.I just received this (from MF) and after over an hour of tweaking, gave up. The problem? It is literally impossible to fully stabilize the center pipe. The problem is that it is not completely possible to get the metal plate under the footboard flush with the floor. This causes the pressure you put on the pedal when you depress it to pull the pipe slightly inward. The faster you go, the more of a rocking motion you'll get. Before others claim I don't know what I'm doing, I do. I won't run off my credentials, but I've played professionally for a long time. I'm stunned at the reviews for this, which are literally all five stars. My only assumption is that these are not jazz drummers who actively play the hi-hat. For those who are, try a 4-on-the-floor a la Tony Williams on this thing and see what you get. The thing will be rocking back and forth as if you were on a platform at festival gig. Thanks, but no thanks DW. Returning this immediately.

I bought this stand 2.5 yrs ago. This is the best hi-hat stand I have ever used bar none. It's sturdy and fully adjustable, and fold up nice.
