The DW Drums HardCore can help you achieve the desired amount of attack by easily adjusting the level of contact the core has with the drum head. When playing soft, the beater acts much like a felt beater, but when struck hard, it has all the attack of a hard plastic or wood drum beater ball.

this product immediately gave me better sound and quicker response. i used to play a pearl demon eliminator (stock beater) on a 22" tama kick drum. as soon as i traded out the standard pearl beater for the DW, i noticed an immediate speed increase, plus my kick sounds a lot better. way more low end punch. i have been searching for that low, "BLAHT" kinda sound and this has gotten me one step closer. highly recomend this for any drummer looking for a beater upgrade. plus it looks cool as shit. also you can take the foam totally off and just use the plastic "hammer" beater for a wicked punch sound. totally customizable.
very adjustable as far as how much foam you want to contact the head.
Even though the inner beater is plastic, it seems to be a high quality peice of equipment. it's DW, enough said.

Frankly, I think it's pretty bad. The sponge-rubber (soft) material is too mushy for a good sound, and the center is too small for a harder sound. You end up with a compromise which, to me, always sounds like utter pants. Even worse is the tiny little Allen wrench DW gives you to adjust this beater. It's so small I guarantee you will lose it almost immediately.For the price I highly recommend just getting two different beaters. You can change those out with your drum key, not the Hobbit wrench. And how often do you need to change beaters in the middle of a show anyway?

I bought this beater on a whim, just to see how it compared to my standard DW two sided beater. The biggest difference, which I noticed immediately, was how much lighter it is. One reviewer said this beater was sluggish, and the only way I can see that happening is if you have your pedal set up poorly. I was immediately playing faster when I switched to this beater, but at the sacrifice of some volume. It comes with a weight, which is very helpful.
While I've only owned this beater for a short while, I cannot speak for its longevity, nor can I speak for the toll that it takes on your kick drum head. I can say that it is very light and fast, but will be a little quieter than most beaters for that reason. It also looks great(especially on a DW 5000 pedal)

It's a great beater! I love the adjustable plastic core and the outer foam is high quality. Plus the red accents on the head match my DW 5000 pedal!

This beater is amazingly fast! If you make the beater "soft" you can "role" it on the bass drum, which enables you to play really fast bass rythms. Pluss you can adjust the beater to get different sounds, ex: more hard center = more distinct attack, soft head = more wash in sound.

This beater is very slow feeling compared to other beaters. I used them for a year on my axis double pedals, and it felt sluggish, until I swapped them out. There is a lack of power also. I have a heavy foot, and it still sounded weak. The beater embedded in the foam dents the head really bad. It ruins a kick drum head very fast.

These beaters are great for DW pedals and have a wide range of sounds to vary to your music style. The core offers a great range of attack and the pad creates warmth to give overall great tone. Very lightweight so they will fly. I suggest to have a pad on your head to avoid scratches. If you damage your head from the core you don't have the beaters adjusted right. Simple fix though.

I wish I had read reviews before I had waisted my money! I tried to persevere and get my money out of them only did damage to my bass drum head...And then I had to deal with the screws constantly falling out. And the fact that they are to quiet. They are light so when you get upset and throw them they don't go far and don't brake upsetting you more. Save your money.

I bought a pair of these after i bought a new double pedal... DW's 9002 ... honestly i wish i never bought these beaters... the ones that came with the pedals are beter.... these pedals arnt loud enough, and i just never got used to the feel
