bad choice for my son

It might for the pro to use. For my son, practice with stand is much better choice.

      Steve Smith smart practice

      By Drummer1984

      from Nashville, TN

Comments about DW Steve Smith Backstage Practice Pad:

VERY good pad, would argue one of the best out there. It is pricey but well worth it. Rugged and perfectly engineered and designed. Steve Smith puts out nothing but great stuff and this just adds to the list, what an excellent drummer, soon to be one of the all time legends. Thanks for the help Steve!

Comments about DW Steve Smith Backstage Practice Pad:

Wow, this practice pad is the very quiet, the rebound is similar to the snare and the built quality and price is awesome. I am on the road and in hotel rooms a lot, so this piece of gear is essential along with Steve Smith's DW Smart Pratice bass drum practice pad.

Had one of these for years!

Comments about DW Steve Smith Backstage Practice Pad:

Ok, the one I own is not exactly this model, because this is a take on an older model that was made quite a few years ago. However, I find mine to be an invaluable tool for keeping my hands in shape, and practicing my stick control when I am either not near drums, or am just puttering around. It's great in front of the t.v., or backstage before a gig. My biggest complaint is the price, which seems hugely excessive for what it is, which is basically a plastic device with a rubber top, and with a nylon and velcro strap. Seems a bit unreasonable to me. But, if you gauge this item's worth by its value to you as a player, then it can't be beat.

      it is... great!

      By hammertime

      from indy

Comments about DW Steve Smith Backstage Practice Pad:

This pad is perfect for drumming in front of the tv. it is quiet enough you can even practice during shows, but loud enough you can still hear each stroke in an articulate manner. i was afraid the pad's rebeound would be bad, but it is just fine. the strap is adjustable and keeps the pad stable. the angle of the wood comes in handy, because how often are your legs perpendicular to your body? the one downside is that the wood base is very soft and will dent easily. but other than that i have no complaints i use it infront of the tv, computer, in the car on the way to gigs, and backstage right before them. it is awesome!

      Works well for my purpose

      By Rocketman-mlnro

      from New York,NY

Comments about DW Steve Smith Backstage Practice Pad:

I find that this works good while watching TV on my bed. The base of the pad slightly angles giving it a good striking position. The rubber is a little hard but it has good rebound. I anticipate it will also work good while using it at my computer station.
