The Evans EC2 coated drumheads feature an Edge- Control ring mounted underneath two plies of 7mm film. By controlling edge vibration instead of eliminating it, the ring isolates and damps higher overtones, enhancing low end and attack, and enabling a broader tuning range. The coated Evans heads deliver additional warmth, focus, and depth, plus a unique translucent appearance.

I have a gretsch catalina(birch) that had g2 clears on the toms at first. the toms were a little too bright for my taste and they kinda had too much slap on them, which is bad when you play in small venues like i do. so i bought these based on the reviews and i couldn't be more pleased. as soon as i put them on the toms and tuned them up, i fell in love with the sounds they let out. great warm, beefy sound with great stick definition too. i would recommend these heads to anyone that asks.

These heads are perfect for toms. You can tune them up for great stick response and still get that cool, 'tubby' tone. BEST tom heads I've ever played. I've been an active drummer since 1968.

Trying out new heads can be an expensive proposition, but for several years I would try new brands or models each time I switched out my heads, to get a better feel for what options were out there. I tried a variety of Remo, Aquarian, and Evans heads, but once I put these Evans EC2 heads on, I've never bothered trying anything else. I can't imagine any way in which another head could improve on them. They sound fantastic, helping to dampen excessive overtones and imparting a rich, deep tone. I typically tune my toms a bit low, but even tightened up these heads sound great. And they really last, even under heavy hitting. I can easily get twice the life out of these that I can out of any other brand I've tried.

I have been using remo heads for 30 years. This is the first time I've ever tried Evans. I have really do love the sound of my drums with these new heads on. I use an older Yamaha kit with big leaf mahogany shells. Its the best this kit has ever sounded.

I love these heads!!!! Sound is amazing!! I gave to quality an 8 because there was a, idk if id call it a blemish, but you could see some sort of adhesive around the edge but, no matter. Good Product

The EC2 SST Coated heads are quality heads that will last.
As a drummer we always want to improve the sound of our drums. The reviews on these heads were right on the money. Great sound, eliminated the terrible ring in my drums. Great response Nothing else needed to get a great sound from my toms. As always Musician's Friend has the lowest prices.

I was completely blown away by these heads. #1 you can't see it from the photo of the box here but these are a cloudy clear with a wild chameleon effect that I can only imagine is caused by the glue they use on the internal muffling rings. The sound is PHENOMENAL on these heads. Totally worth the money and head and shoulders above the competition.

just bought these a couple days ago with along with a set of Muff L Rings and they sound great the heads have a good bounce to them and sound really deep when tuned low I have nothing bad to say about these.

I was using Remo clear pinstripes (2 ply) on my recording set of drums and they just had too much slap and bright attack... threw a set of these on and they were far meatier, fuller and warmer. Recommended if you are searching for a fat, warm 60's type of sound without any weird overtones or ringing.
