I play a lot of death metal (w/ double pedal), and other forms of heavy music, and I find that this is an amazing sounding head. When tuned well, it puts out a sound as good as any electric kit. And with the damper ring on the outside there is almost no need to fill the drum itself with insolation.

It has a coating on the Head and a Damper Ring attached. You get 2 Foam Rings that go inside the Damper, so you get to customize your sound and attack! A deep thud or a lighter bop-it's all here.
Very durable, well made.

These drumheads are the best of all the heads that i used... the aquarian superkick III, the remo powerstrokes, brazilian RMV's, And local latin percusion's.. but, the evans don't need a muffling coat or something to kill the harmonics... only put the EMAD ring of your choise... and play!!!

i really usually dont like evans heads at ALL! but my friend recommended this head so i got it, and man this head is so good! a huge FAT thump is what youll get out of this head. youll never need to put anything in your bass drum anymore if you use the big foam ring. this is the only head i will ever use from evans and it will probably be on my kit for a long time to come.

Ok, so i just switched out my heads on all of my drums.. and i ordered this head and when i put tis head on i could tell a HUGE difference.. this head has amazing tone, amazing impact and punch and when you play your whole kit together this head just sounds so solid and so perfect.. I've never played a bass head that sounded this good. I highly recommend this for any drummer. THIS IS AWESOMMEEE!

This bass drum head is nice and punchy, along w/ the remo falam slam patch, it sounds exactly how i wanted it to. it is a bit quiet though, maybe its my drumming or my pedals. idk great overall appearance and sound.

i bought this head recentley after trying several differant batter heads on my 20x20 ddrum dominion bass drum. i have a aquarian resanator on the front. i have tried a super kick 2, and also a remo powersonic. none of them have come close to the evans onyx emad. this thing came out of the box and is tuned not super tight but medium tight and it made my bass drum extremely punchy. the bass should be the loudest thing on your kit and with this it will be. my bass sounds so amazing with this head. you should give this a try it is worth the money.

I ran sound for multiple bands recently. The first band's drummer had this head on his kick. When mic'd, it sounded amazing. Absolutly great. After they were finished, I had to go up and check it out for myself. Really nice and low. Very pleasing un-mic'd as well. I went to get a 24" by MF doesn't have them or Evans doesn't make them. Maybe another time.
