Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

This is a replacement head for a drum set purchased for my grandson. His enthusiasm is at a much higher level than his skill, so I purchased a couple of extras, just in case.
Replacement is much better quality than original equipment, delivery was quick, and I could not be more pleased.

Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

G+ heads work great. For me,
G1s are too thin and don't last, G2s are too
thick and too dead. I play custom made drums
From Bucks County Drum Co. and G+ is the
      head that works best

      Nice heads

      By Griffin Lodge

Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

This drum head is nice, but i prefer getting something a little better.
These heads have a nice warming sound to them, sure to make you happy.
They are alright, could be a little more well made though.
You get what you pay for, an average drum head.

      Disappointing

      By Vic Dunston

      from Georgia

Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

I am currently playing these heads on a nice Gretsch Catalina Maple kit. At first they had a fairly warm, full sound, but I noticed they were a little tricky to dial in tuning-wise. Now that they have a little wear on them the sound has turned brittle and harsh. Judicious use of MoonGels helps a little, but the punch is gone and my lovely Gretsch drums are starting to sound like oil barrels!

      gplus rocks

      By drumdoc

      from miami

Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

just got the fusion set at a great price... these heads rock...i have a pearl free floating snare with a segment bubinga shell 6.5 by 14 and its the best sounding snare i have ever heard... i have tried a few other snare heads and this one did the trick... great stick responce with great attack nice pop to it yet very open allowing to take advantage of the unique characteristics of the bubinga shell... on the toms they sound very warm... i have g1 for reso but i am very curious of switching to ec reso.. i think the gplus on batter and ec reso will be a great combonation.... definately great heads and definately will be my drum head of choice from now on... words do not describe how great my snare sounds.... blows away the ec snare head and the remo sound control and g2.....

      I found my sound

      By Uncle Fuzz

      from northern Ill, Southern Wis.

Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

The G plus head is hands down the best i've incountered. After using remo(boo) I swiched to evans(yes!) And the G plus is top notch! I use them on the top and bottom of my gretsch cat maples and the maple comes out in full force. Just enough sustain, sweet tone and super durable. I hope they make these for a long time. I swiched to these from the coated EC2 for the added tone and couldn't be more pleased.

One of the best snare drum heads

      By Joe the Drummer

      from Kansas City, MO.

Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

This drumhead should have been out 10 years ago. It's a slightly thicker one ply head and it is very durable. This drum head puts Remo Ambassadors to shame and is better than any other one ply head with no center power dot. My previous favorite head was the Evans power center but I like the G plus slightly better. The translucent finish gives it a vintage kind of look and the sound is exactly as described. I have this head on 5 snare drums of mine and they all sound better with this drumhead on them. The only drum that I'm not completely pleased with is my maple Pearl free floater, but it's not the drumhead, it the shell. It needs an air vent in the shell and then everything will be fine. The advertising about this drumhead is completely true, in my opinion. Everything mentioned in the promo write up is accurate. I'm very pleased with this drumhead and if it been available 10 years ago I would have saved hundreds of dollars on snare drum heads. Evans may lose money because these great sounding drumheads are extremely durable which means less snare drum head purchases each year!

Great new option - A real PLUS!

      By TBone98

      from Mid-Atlantic US

Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

Got a whole set of these G Plus coated heads, 4 toms and snare. My comments are from the perspective of having maple drums with 30-degree bearing edges, previously with clear 1-ply batters and thin clear resonants to kill sustain and volume (veteran of 43 yrs. playing at home). I think these feel and respond like a 2-ply coated and have that degree of focus. However the warmth is like a 1-ply coated. The combination makes them almost too muffled and too lacking in stick response for my taste. If I was blind-folded and someone told me a 1-ply coated was on the snare, I would have believed it...sound and feel. I prefer my EC with dot. I like these a lot and like the look. I've got a sneaky feeling they might be perfect with 10mil resonant heads whenever I get around to trying it. In moderate to high volume live performance, may demand miking.

      Everything it's advertised to be!

      By Joe the Drummer

      from Kansas City, MO.

Comments about Evans G Plus Coated Drumhead:

Excellent drum head for my snare drums. I use this drumhead on a Pearl free floating 6.5x14 maple, Pearl Forum 5.5x14 and a Tama 5.5x14 Imperialstar made of poplar wood and each drum sounds better with these heads compared to other drumheads. The only other drum head I was pleased with was the Evans Power Center. I like the extra thickness of the G-Plus and it's still only a 1 ply head. It gives the snare drums somewhat of a vintage sound with plenty of attack and ambience, with more durability. Why weren't these around 10 years ago? I wasted a lot of money on thin sounding Remo Ambassadors only to finally realize Ambassadors are extremely overrated. I don't care if they are the "standard of the industry!" The Evans G-plus are so much better, in my opinion.
