This drumhead should be classified as a resonant head only, not a batter. If used as a batter, it has an extremely weak, ringy sound that wouldnt be too far off from the stock head you're taking off that came from the factory. Instead, if used as a resonant head, it has incredible tone, and a fantastic low end. I paired it with my G2 coated heads and it sounds like an absolute dream. I recently turned a side snare into a rack tom, and with the help of the G2 coated as the batter and G1 as the reso, it sings like any other tom in its size. Two thumbs way way up for Evans!

Don't get them!
These heads suck. They have weak sound and don't give you any edge at all. They might be durable, but they sound dull. Even when they are tuned to perfection! Would not recomend...Read complete review

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:
When I put these heads on my kit as batters they made my drums sound very hollow and they got a weird ring but when I put them on as resos with Remo Pinstripes as the batters the sound was amazing. So batter=horrible, Reso=Great
Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:
I have used this head on my friend's old Pearl 4-peice drum set, with a 12" and a 16" tom. The toms had a lot of overtone but he had some Evans e-rings on the toms and on the snare, and the rings really helped the overtones. But even with the rings, I still didnt quite like the sound. They made the drums sound hollow, and echo-ish, and had a strange, faint ringing that made the entire set sound weird. I highly recomend the Evans G2 coated batter head, you wont be disapointed with that one. But this one is unpredictable. I dont recomend getting these.

Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:
I use g1's on my Tama superstars, as reso heads, g2 coated on batter. No such thing as a better combo. Super deep, resonant, and VERY loud. These aren't good batter heads, unless you are playing jazz, funk, lighter stuff. But for resonants, they really bring the tone out.
Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:
I've been using this on my yamaha snare drum and I have the most BEAUTIFUL sound comming from it. It is nice and warm with lots of pop and I can get a good rim shot with it.
Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:
These heads are the ideal resonant head for all toms. Ultra sensitive with great response. I use Evans EC2's on all my 10,12,13,14,16 toms with all G1's on the bottom. They create a great low-end sound when tuned slightly lower than the top. Not good for a batter head because it has too many ovetones and dents too easily.
Comments about Evans G1 Clear Batter Drumhead:
Nice heads if you're into playing jazz. I added those Evans EMAD dampener thingy's to my toms as well, the combination of them with these heads sounds great, it gives a really warm feel.
