This head is really nice sounding and easy to tune! i had the Black Evans hydraulic head on my snare, and once getting a new snare tried it again. It is a bit deeper of a drum and the acrylic shell caused the head to speak a lot more than i wanted. i bought this having much experience with it from before, and it sounds absolutely incredible. perfect sustain, and it is much easier to hear individual tones at lugs when tuning then the hydraulic. Buy it and try it!

I bought this drum head thinking it was a regular snare drum head and with a little tuning I could get it to sound fine. boy was I wrong. This head completely destroys all of your snare drums overtones, not just some, but all. it makes it sound dead, not dry. I would recommend anything but this. I tried to tune my snare for over an hour and I couldn't come up with anything remotely decent sounding. Do not buy this head*

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
This head sounds fantastic! I had previously been using a Remo ambassador coated snare head and with that i would have at least 5 or 6 moongels on at a time. Then when i switched to this i was so impressed. I definitely recommend this head to someone who wants little to no ring on there snare drum.

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
Great drum head. I play punk and rock, lasts a long time and sounds great. Snappy crisp sound and the weather coating makes wear n tear seem like a thing of the past. Highly recommended for drummers that thrash their kit like I do.

Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
I have been using Evans drum heads exclusively for about 10 years. This particular purchase was to replace the HD Dry Batter Snare Head on my 1975 Ludwig Supraphonic. The HD Dry choked way too much of the tone out of this drum, and the Genera Dry Batter Snare Head seems to be better in this aspect. I'm playing my first live gig with this head tonight, so we'll see how it sounds mic'd up.
Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
Killer head, I replace them at least once a year, clean sounding head, that is user friendly.
This head is great. Its a coated head with a matt finish, a ring around the underneath of the perimeter of the head, and small perforations over that ring. The head has a great 'crack' and if tuned properly, has zero overtones. It sounds great tuned tightly of loose. Clean focused attack, and great stick response. I have been using them for over 20 years now. Sounds great and is well designed. Enjoy!!!
Great, but with heavy play, the matte finish wears down quickly, affecting the subtleties of the sound quality.
Great value, well worth the money, quality product.
Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
I change heads more often than most drummers and I am always looking for something new and better, but I keep coming back to this head that I have been using now for the past 20 years.
This is a white 10 mil. coated batter head that has an additional 2 mil. ring on the underside that helps to supress ringing overtones, it also has dry vents around the outer edge that helps to give your drum a more focused sound.
These are the best sounding batter heads that I have found for snare drums and I have tried many in my quest for a great sounding snare.
These are not the cheapest snare batter heads you can buy, but you get what you pay for.
Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
Simply put, the best snare head I've had. Great attack, not too much sustain, great definition, all around a great head. versatile too! I have one on my 14" pdp metal snare, my 13" ludwig maple piccolo, and 13" pearl birch, and it tunes right up to any drum! Worth the money, best head (and the most resilient!) that I've ever played, hands down
this head has great attack, not too much sustain, and very few overtones if you tune it right, I find that if you use moongel it makes it perfect, also amazing definition!
I play metal and beat the hell out of my drums, and this has yet to break yet alone dent, and the coating is still intact. If it can handle my hitting, It's almost guaranteed that it'll survive for you.
Pretty decent price, and it's definitely the best you can get in my opinion, and I've played and broken many snare heads in my day
Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
I'm an evans man. My main snare is a dw edge. I've tried just about every head made on this snare and i keep coming back to this one. It tames it enough to allow me to bring it in to the small venues but it doesn't lose any of its body or impact. I hate the sound of a choked or really muffled snare drum. This head allows me to play it just about anywhere loud or soft. Keeps the sensitivity even at low volume.
Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
This head did the trick. I will keep it on this snare since I have several other snares that I can use when appropriate.
I wanted to quiet down a Ludwig Acrolite for a low-volume gig. This head accomplishes what it is supposed to do - create a drier sound without loosing sensitivity. You might be able to get the same sound with a conventional head and a zero ring at the expense of lost sensitivity. The coating appears to be holding up nicely, although I played it for only one gig. Still, it appears to hold up better than Remo Ambassadors that I have recently used, even after only one gig.
Comments about Evans Genera Dry Batter Snare Head:
If you are looking for a warming tone for your snare, this is the best purchase ever you can do.I've tried a lot of heads and this es the best for my yamaha musashi, 'cause this snare has a lot of bright and ringing tones and now I have an exellent warming and confortable sound, dont think more about this, just buy it.
