      Deceptively simple.

The Evans Min-EMAD Tom and Snare Dampener attaches with Velcro dots to both the drum head and rim to control overtones by controlling head vibration. The dampener consists of a fabric bridge linking the resonant head with an inert metal counterhoop. Use of the Evans dampener produces a focused, unchoked tone. Attach close to the rim for minimal dampening; away from the rim for increased dampening.

I grabbed a couple of these dampeners just to try. My low tom had an annoying ringing after I hit it. My high tom had a slight ring too, but it was bearable. I slapped these babies on them and now they have that beautiful tone. You'd be amazed at how much these improve your sound. Very easy to assemble. Also, I wondered how many were in a pack. It isn't just one dampener that comes with it. There's about 4 or 6, all in various sizes. Great product. Love it. :)

This product looks better than it actually is. Not even worth it for the snare too, If you are amazing at tunning snares, you dont even need to dampen them. My top head has about 3 and 1/2 full rotations on a drum key and the bottom is at about 2 and 1/2. I haven't ever used dampening on it, but it is also a DW snare and thats probably why and I am curently using an evans G1 coated head. If you have these over tones then buy an Evans Genera Dry head, this head has a built in, 2 mil. floating ring on the bottom and has small holes and gives the best sound. I am buying this head tomorrow.

            waste of money

The guy at the music store rocommended these. Although he was a drummer, he hadn't used them himself. That should have told me all I needed to know. Moongels are better than this product in every way. They dampen better, they stick better, they come off the head better, and I think they're cheaper too. And when your moongels get dirty and ragged, you just soak em in soapy water and rinse em off, and they back to like new condition.

            Works for me

            By BergerDrum

            from Southern Maine

Comments about Evans Min-EMAD Tom and Snare Dampener:

I've used these ever since they first came out. I've had very few problems with them. They're perfect for what I want: I play with close-miked drums, and all I want is for the "edge" to be taken off the sound. Min-EMADS do just that. They don't interfere much with sustain but they DO take the high-end over-ring out of my floor toms and snare, and cut down a bit on sympathetic vibration. All of this makes my drums more mike-friendly while leaving them to vibrate and sound full and open. Like the other person said, know what you're after for sound; if you want your dums "muffled" with short sustain, then use something else, like rings, or maybe you should reconsider your head choices.

            OK

Comments about Evans Min-EMAD Tom and Snare Dampener:

These are ok dampeners. They will kill over tones on a snare drum but other than that are useless. I tried it on my floor tom but it didn't do a thing. Its very hard to get them off the drum head. The part that goes on the rim comes off too easily. I suggest you use tape to keep them on.

            For what they are...

            By Mikey V

            from MA

Comments about Evans Min-EMAD Tom and Snare Dampener:

I keep hearing how they don't muffle well... well if you play Death Metal... it won't do much for ya... but they do take off overtones (as it was meant to do) it will not "muffle" the drum per say. So if your looking for muffleing, ya might want to look somewhere else.I use them because I play in different enviornments and I already like to sounds of the drums. These just control the overtones in certian envioronements. the smaller the venue I play the more I use them. Major difference in controlling overtones AND muffleing...You really need to know the difference AND what you want.

            Not enough

            By ProC

            from Oc, CA

Comments about Evans Min-EMAD Tom and Snare Dampener:

Never had any problems with these things falling off. They stick just fine, but like others have said, once they are on, they are there for life. I used these on my toms, I use 14, 16, and 18"s. There is hardly a noticeable difference in overtone control. If you put your ear right next to the drum when it's hit, you can tell. Otherwise, go with a different product for more muffling.

            not worth it

            By JBAND

            from Janesville, WI

Comments about Evans Min-EMAD Tom and Snare Dampener:

The sticky part of these dampeners comes undone within three to four days of using them. If you really listen, no dampening is even done with these. If you want your heads dampened, spend the money on something worth it.
