I decided that the coated EC I was using on my snare just wasn't cutting it, and having used this power center on a previous drumset, I bought it again. Smart decision. My snare drum is a completely different animal now with a massive crack and a beautiful tone (and twice as loud). From what I've seen they can be pretty durable for a single ply, but they can be broken if you Krog your way through several shows. Still, this is a great snare head and I've used it on both metal and wood snares with the same results.

I normally use an Emperor Coated on my 14" maple snare but the shop I use was out so I decided to try this out. The one I picked up had the dot on the TOP side of the head (it is also made with the dot on the underside). The head didn't sound bad at all but I was disappointed with how quickly the dot on the top deteriorated. (Meaning the dot cracked and started peeling up.) I've have used two of these heads and the same thing happened with both. I play that snare with a heavy hand so I'm sure that has something to do with it but I expected longer life from a snare head with a reinforced center.I would recommend the head with the dot on the bottom but most def. not the one with the dot on top. As well... with the dot on top as drum magazine, review say, do not work well with brushes.

Comments about Evans Power Center Head:
If you love to play rock music and love to slam on that snare, then this is the perfect drumhead for you, i have owned aquarian heads and remo, but this drum head is the best out of all of them. but however it sounds only okay with other types of music. because of its power center it mainly sounds superb in the center, but not as well in other places on the head.

This drum head has lasted ages on my drumset. Ive used Aquarian and remo but the evans power center has been my favorite and i would use it again.
Comments about Evans Power Center Head:
This head only sounds good when you hit it hard in the center. If your someone like me who rolls a lot while drumming or uses brushes, this is not the head for you.

Comments about Evans Power Center Head:
This snare head is pretty sweet. I put it on my Pearl EX snare, with an Evans 300 on the bottom and it sounds GREAT. I have it tuned real tight and it just snaps. I just cranked it down and it sounds amazing. I think it doesn't ring too bad, but I like a snare with a good pop and a little ring. It doesn't dampen the sound unless you want it to. Basically, this snare does what you WANT it to. It sounds great no matter what.

Got them for free in a local promotion offer, they are sweet. I have never seen heads this cheap this good.
Comments about Evans Power Center Head:
this head is ok for the price, but it i very difficult to tune. there is alot of resonance, and i can never get the snare to stop rattling. dont think that i havent spant hours on tuning, because i have.
Comments about Evans Power Center Head:
This head sounds great as long as you dont miss the center. It sounds really sloppy if you miss. So far I have had it for 6 months so far so good. It gives a nice and loud crack (if you hit the center). It's a little too loud for soft rolls for me. Overall, a durable, LOUD head and a great buy.
Comments about Evans Power Center Head:
i've had this head for a while, no problems. my snare's not too good, kind of old, and the strainers falling apart, but this head makes it sound awesome.as a big fan of a nice sounding snare, i highly recommend it.
