Visually and sonically effective.
The Gothic Radius delivers a crisp glass-like ping followed by a huge dark low-end roar. The dry metallic sound is perfect as an alternative to a flat ride. Flexible, flat metal alloy can be hand-bent in small increments to produce hundreds of brilliant attack tones, shimmering crashes, and pang type sounds within seconds, or played with mallets for eerie film score type effects. Bending one edge creates a unique swish/Chinese tone. A wonderful addition to any set-up, the Gothic Radius can be creatively integrated into almost any musical situation. Clean lines promote dazzling on-stage look and appearance. 20" size has dry, metallic tones; 26" size produces darker, more vintage sounding tones.

Ive got the 20" version. It is great as a ride, especially for darker/warmer blues and jazz. In its flat state, there isnt much crashing to be done that is too worthwhile, but using mallets allows for gong like crashes and awesome crescendos. My only two complaints are that it is actually very quiet compared to conventional cymbals, even as a ride; and that in the end, its a big sheet of metal, not some engineering feat on FM's account, worthy of the price tags. I like it though, looks great and gives me a left hand ride along with a light and portable gong option.
This is a great special effects cymbal. The number of sounds you can get out of it is amazing. Bending it gives you even more options. It can sound like anything from a flat ride to a trashy china went bent properly. Plus, it looks awesome in any set. The only problem is it scratches and dents easily. But otherwise a great cymbal.
