Comments about Gibraltar 8mm Tilt Swing Nut Attachment:

While the concept is a good one, Gibraltar missed the mark when designing this product. Out of the box, they were easy to install, and quite helpful in speeding up the setup / tear down process. Over a period of about 25 shows, however, they started to degrade.

Gibraltar made the metal insides of the swing nut out of the cheapest and softest metal that they could find. One of them literally sheared off mid-show, causing the cymbal to come off the stand and fly toward me! Cymbals are expensive, they don't need to be flying around the room!

The springs on the bottom of the sleeve are also pretty chintzy. They lose tension and the cymbals sort of flop down. Add that to the fact that you can't access the rubber sleeve to replace it, and you've got a great concept that went terribly wrong. Don't bother.

Comments about Gibraltar 8mm Tilt Swing Nut Attachment:

I bought a few of these to use on some existing stands I had. I was really intrigued by the design and really wanted to try them out. Right out of the package, they were really easy to install. Just take off your existing cymbal sleeve and screw this on. You may need to lower the stand a tad, because this does add about 1/2-1" of height on your stand. These worked great for a few shows, but after a while, they wouldn't stay at the "t" position. They still work and I still use them, but it doesn't stay crossed over the cymbal like a wingnut. The only other thing I don't love about it is that the spring underneath adds a bit of noticeable "bounce" to your cymbals. It's not super annoying, but it affects the way the cymbal reacts when you're riding eighth notes on your crash.
