Overall, I like this pedal. Once I got used to the action, I found it pretty easy to play. The big problem I had with it is that it doesn't come ready-to-go out of the box. It needs to be adjusted, which is easy only if you know how. Be sure to watch Gibraltar's YouTube video on adjusting the pedal before you use it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT7x8y1gyQw If you adjust it wrong, you can shred the cable on the first use and render it useless. I found this out the hard way. Adjusting the pedal wasn't intuitive to me because none of my other pedals adjust this way, which is why watching the video is so important.

Another issue is the cajon mount. I used to tip my cajon back slightly by adjusting the front feet. As it stands, even with the feet adjusted to their minimum height, the cajon mount doesn't really allow the beater mount to rest on the floor. This seems like an oversight on Gibraltar's part. Also, the pedal itself has no spikes. It only has hook side of Velcro on the bottom to keep it from sliding on carpets. With low-pile carpets, this works pretty well. With high-pile carpets, as I experienced recently, this is insufficient for keeping the pedal in place. It kept traveling away from me.

When I first got my cajon and played it at a couple shows, the bending over required to play it hurt my back. After seeing another drummer play his cajon with bundle sticks, I tried that and was able to put my cajon back into service. This pedal adds another dimension to my playing with this instrument. It's much less expensive than the only alternative I've seen and much lighter and more compact. If Gibraltar added spikes to the pedal and a height adjustment to the beater, it would be an even better product, although I'm sure that would add to the cost.

This was a gift, and so a sight unseen purchase.

A bit problematic out of the box. It functioned initially but quickly the pedal went to the floor.

Many adjustment points, so not for the timid adjuster. A deeper owner's manual is needed beyond the single page downloadable from the Gibraltar web site.

Alignment of the cable connector tube exit points on both the pedal and beater ends is difficult in both axis. See potential for cable wear at those points (see breakage problems elsewhere here). I will adjust as best I can and apply lithium grease at both points.

I have been looking for this for my percussion set up. I play in a jazz quartet with mostly hand drums (bongos, congas) and hihat, and have been lacking a kick bass sound. This set up fits the bill perfectly, and I can still use the cajon as intended when I want with ease. It said used, but seem to be brand new. Best purchase in a while.

no problems adjusting the pedal to get the desired feel, but two acoustic gigs into using it the cable broke. Couldn't find any info on a replacement cable, but I was able to replace with a bicycle brake cable and ferrule and it works just fine now. Also the mounting bracket only accommodates a regular size cajon. I have a pearl Sonic boom cajon and its wider base required me to modify the bracket.

Comments about Gibraltar Cajon Pedal with Mount:

Hard to adjust; when adjusted the cable frayed and broke 15 minutes into practice. I have perifial artery disease and my leg is weak so there is no way I abused the product. Thinking it was a fluke I tried to re order two replacement cables. I can't find them even on the Gibralter Website.

I had the same broken cable issue, it happened withing 15 minutes of my first gig (first time I really used the pedal). Once it happened, it could not be rigged or temperally fixed. If you use it to play out, have a plan b.

I read the reviews, but believed the broken cable might a fluke; that Gibraltar would not tarnish thier reputation by putting out such a flawed product. I was wrong, its disappointing.

I bought this and it lasted through practice, but then broke at sound check before the show. We where able to hook the drummers regular pedal to the mount which was the only positive. I sent it back and received a replacement which did not even last one song in practice. I am trying to buy the mount only, as the pedal itself is very poor..

I'm a long time guitarist getting into percussion. Bought the Gibraltar cajon pedal used from Musicians Friend. It was re-packed poorly, and did not work when unpacked. There was no manual. The manual available online was only 1/2 page, and the photos too tiny to be of use. It assumed that all you had to do was unpack and play.

I had to use trial and error to adjust/untangle/reposition everything. Now it works fine.
