Comments about Gibraltar Flat-Base Snare Stand with Gearless Basket Tilter:
this is a great stand, at a great price. i've used it at many gigs and had no trouble whatsoever. i play in a light rock/folk band that occasionally gets a little aggressive. this stand has never "walked" away from me, or failed me in any other way. use common sense! if you are playing hard rock/metal, why on earth would you get this stand? it's single-braced, lightweight, flat-based. it's great for folk/rock/indie/jazz stuff. on the other hand, a DW 9000 snare stand would be absolute overkill for what i do. so buy what suits the music you play. if you want something more "stable" (though this stand has no issues with that), you'll pay more for it, but it'll work better for you. this stand is not for everyone.
my ONE gripe is the "wing nut" that tightens the snare basket. the arm things that stick out on the side will interfere with the bottom tube when the snare is flat. so you have to raise it, tighten the basket, and then drop it back down. might not be an issue for you if your snare is higher, but take that into consideration. it's not an issue for me so much, but if you were gigging multiple nights a week, you may want to have a look at this stand in person. option B would be to cut the plastic arm off, or just replace it with a big metal bolt. :)
overall, a great stand. i'd recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight, sturdy stand for their smaller kit in a light to moderate style of music.
Comments about Gibraltar Flat-Base Snare Stand with Gearless Basket Tilter:
this stand is great.it's solid and creates an old look but heavy enough to accomodate any size snare.if you play heavy rock or metal you might choose a heavier stand.
Comments about Gibraltar Flat-Base Snare Stand with Gearless Basket Tilter:
I bought this to be a lightweight snare stand that would be beneficial to my gigging 3-5 times a week. It's really not very light and takes up just as much space as an average snare stand in my hardware bag. Performance wise, the major flaw is that the stand will "walk" when you play the snare even moderately loud. This was so annoying that I have since put this stand with my practice kit and replaced it with a stand 1/2 the price that performs much better.
