Comments about Gibraltar Intruder Strap-Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal:
I'm still on the fence about these double kicks. The factory stock settings my particular pair came in were extremely heavy, both in terms of action and attack.
If you're looking for the opposite of an Axis Longboard type double kick you certainly have found your match. I have yet to sit down and spend the necessary dozen+ hours tweaking this particular double-kick but I'm sure when that due-diligence is put in I could attain a reasonable compromise between economy of technique and a balanced, solid action.
I've played all the double pedals to date; Iron Cobra, Tama, DW5 and 9000, you name it. The Gibraltar's have promise, but they, in my cursory appraisal, seem too true to their name - every kick's punch feels like it carries the weight of 'THE ROCK' with it.
Comments about Gibraltar Intruder Strap-Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal:
I got this pedal in yesterday and I have to say that i'm pretty disapointed in it. There's a piece on the slave pedal that sticks upward and causes the pedal to stop BEFORE it hits the drum unless you kick it very hard and by doing so chips at the base of the pedal and the piece sticking up as well. It has plenty of nice adjustable features to your preference and the main pedal is pretty decent. Overall my main issue is the piece on that slave pedal that doesn't seem to have any purpose and hinders the pedal itself. I may be missing something very obvious and could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure i'm not and may just have a defective pedal.
Comments about Gibraltar Intruder Strap-Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal:
alright, i had some dw 4500's or 4000's i can't remember. but anyway, they were a nightmare! i never wanted to buy another double bass after those. then i saw these pedals and decided to give it another try after sending my others back. These things play like a dream. and if you can find any way they can't adjust your a genious. these pedals are incredible.
Comments about Gibraltar Intruder Strap-Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal:
I've been playing set for almost 7 years now, and they are unlike any pedal I've ever played. The strap drive is so quick with response and its balanced so well. My first double pedals were Gibraltar Avenger IIs, and they didn't let me down, so it was time for an upgrade and I got these. These will not let you down. The beaters are somewhat heavy, but they still have great action.
Comments about Gibraltar Intruder Strap-Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal:
This is one of the top four pedals on the market. The DW 9000, Pearl Eliminator, Gibralter Intruder, and the Tama Iron Cobra. At this point they're all equally good in quality. It's just up to preference at that point. If you're going to get this pedal, I recommend getting the strap-drive. It's like playing with butter. You can't even feel the pedals moving. It is the best. You can adjust this thing any way imaginable. I just tried out this pedal and I'm about to buy it. As far as durability it's supposed to last you a lifetime. And the pedal board is suprisingly large. If you wear a large shoe size thats huge, like size 15 shoes, your shoes can easily fit on this board. I cant wait 'till I get this beast....
