Good, but could be better.....................

By Go Go Jo Jo

Comments about Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker:

Here are the specs: This will thread onto 8mm stands only. It will fit on smaller stands, but will fit over the threading only and not screw on, and will be unstable as a result, no matter how tight you get the drum key screw at the base. You take off the existing sleeve and felts from your current stand, and thread this down all the way until it stops (it threads on pretty far). The included sleeve and felts hold your cymbal like your stand did before you installed this (albeit a bit higher than before). At the top of this "base piece" is where the "stacker" portion goes. Instead of having 8mm threading like a normal stand, the top of this base piece is round with 2 flat sides 180 degrees apart. The top stacker section fits over this round piece, and the 2 flat sides correspond to the 2 drumkey bolts. The top stacker piece will only fit on two ways (the inside of the top stacker piece has flat sides to correspond with the base piece. The two ways it will fit on are 180 degrees from the each other). Because of this, you may have to unscrew the base section slightly so that the two flat sides correspond to the angle you wish to use the tilter on the stacker section. By having a flat side to tighten the drum key bolt against makes sense and is fairly secure, but I think it would be much easier (and more secure) if the top stacker piece threaded on like the base piece does. The other drawback to not having threading at the top of the base piece is that you can't thread a wing nut down on top of it to keep your felts and sleeve from falling off in your hardware case during transport. This happens to me all the time; not fun trying to comb through the bottom of your hardware case in a poorly lit club to find your sleeve and felts! The top stacker piece functions well, and it's nice to have a tilter. The top of the stacker piece has normal threading at the top for a wingnut. If you find the lower (main) cymbal is too tight, you can always go without a top felt (or use a thinner one, such a thin neoprene washer). Also, as someone mentioned, it does chew up your threads on the existing cymbal stand if you wish to use it as a regular stand in the future. However, if you thread this all the way on (or close) like I said above, the "chewing" of the threads will be down far enough that it will be covered by a cymbal sleeve anyway. Plus, once you thread the base piece on and adjust it how you like, you don't need to change or remove it, so it stays in one place the whole time.

All in all, a good stacker, but could have been better. Check out the Gibraltar Stacker that's like this except with a small boom arm. That one is a little more adjustable.

Real Nice!

Comments about Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker:

Okay, Heres the deal: This stacker DOES screw onto your stand. I am using it on a PDP boom stand & it screws rite on. It is very easy to set up. You need to understand that both cymbals (current cymbal & stacked cymbal) are going to be held in place by this stacker. Just remove current cymbal & all felts, screw stacker in place & tighten set screw, put on current cymbal & included felts, attach second half of stacker & tighten both set screws, finally, attach cymbal to be stacked & there you have it. Should take you 4min. It does NOT mess up the threads on your stand! If you need to add a cymbal but dont want to add a new stand as well, GET THIS!

o.k. holder/stacker

Comments about Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker:

I sometimes use my Gibraltar SC-CSA cymbal stacker to put my splash over my Zildjian Ping ride. It works great, the base easily detatches, and the angle adjuster is a blessing, but how the base attaches to your stand is bothering me. You use a drumkey to screw it where your felts were, and it smushed the threading on the stand that I had it on. I haven't really used it for a while, especially since now my ride is on a Gibraltar 9000 series stand, but it worked great when I used it. A good investment, but unless you go with a different brand, I'd recommed you put your cymbal somewhere else.

Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker

By Devin

Comments about Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker:

I almost wish I would have just bough a cymbal boom arm for the extra money.I purchased this to stack a 8in. splash on a 20in. ride that was on a regular straight stand. There are a couple things about this that are great:1- It has a tilter, and can be placed in two diffent 180 degree positions, so you won't have a problem with the angle.2- You can acually take the bottom of it off, and it forms basiclly what is exactley like Gibraltars nomrmal 8in. stacker. Some of the cons are:1- It really doesn't screw on to your other stand very well, you just kind of tighten it with a drum key. This comes loose all the time2- Once this is put on, there isn't away to adjust your ride. So, if you like your ride really tight, it's not going to work out for you.Overall I think it works just fine, but if your a recording or on tour musician you might find it not stable, or heavyduty eneogh.I was a litte disappointed with Gibraltar on this one.

Amazing space saver

Comments about Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker:

This was an excellent choice for my Splash and Crash cymbals. I have a 10" Splash and a 16" Crash, both Zildjian. I bought mine for $15 from Guitar Center. If you have limited space, this is an ingenious buy.

nice pick

Comments about Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker:

I bought a gilbrater stacker to hold my 12 inch china cymbal. The clearance between my china and my 20 inch ride is great. The stacker never wobbles and you can adjust the tightness on both the upper and lower cymbals. The only thing is that it takes a while to peice together.

What a pain!!

Comments about Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker:

I purchased this product to hold a 12 inch china cymbal. The stand hardly supports the added weight. Also, get your plyers ready, 'cause it's a pain to put together. it hass good features, but i'd recommend a mini stacker instead.

A wise purchase.

Comments about Gibraltar SC-CSA Cymbal Stacker:

I have one of these on top of my ride cymbal stand. It works great and does exactly what it's meant to do. It offers plenty of clearance so you don't have to worry about hitting the cymbal below it. If you don't feel like buying another stand or need to conserve space then this product will work great for you.
