The Gibraltar Bass Drum Impact Pad is the best pad for a hard, punchy, and loud bass drum sound. The guys in my band like to crank there amps pretty loud, so I needed something to add volume and presence to my bass drums. I?ve tried ever kind of impact pad out there I found this sounded the best.First of all it is not a metal disc, it is actually a hard plastic disc. No matter what kind of heads you use it will add a lot of punch to your kick. It also has a slight click that?s not overwhelming like the Danmar metal click pads. I find it works great with felt and plastic beaters, but especially with the big red wood beaters. Their pretty durable and last a long time, with these on your heads will be pretty indestructible. I?ve only cracked one, and it was on for more then a year under constant playing conditions. So if you want a soft, boomy, jazzy sound you probably don?t want this pad. But, if you want a loud, punchy, and hard rock sound with a lot of presence then you definitely want the Gibraltar Impact pad.

Guys I cracked mine open. It sounded great, stuck well enough. After about 3 months I looked down and the housing that holds the disc inside was cracked open (at the place of impact). I don't see anyone else posting this problem, so if you're the kind of drummer that breaks stuff differently than other drummers: beware of this and buy either two or a differnt kind of other one for a back up.

Been playing classic rock for 30 years, a J. Bonham fanatic, and I use this to enhance the sound and speed of the pedal and head. Amazing difference! Faster doubles and triplets with real punch!

I bought this because it was cheap and i wanted more of a thud sound on my bass drum. After using this for 3 months, I have decided that this was a no-brainer. The sound quality of my bass drum has improved. The pad is still firmly attached. The price was extremely cheap. The only bad thing is that my wooden beater has some black marks on it.

            Great Pad!

Comments about Gibraltar Single Bass Drum Impact Pad:

            1) I have used several impact pads, and this IS by far the best yet. I tried the Danmar Metal Kick (to hard, broke a beater shaft).2) It does not really accentuate the attack if you are using a felt beater. Use plastic or wood.3) The material inside IS NOT METAL. It is a type of composite plastic...very very durable. I have two singles on my show kit, and a double on my practice kit.In short... I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone that desires more attack from their bass drum.

If you're looking for a fat, wet, punchy, clicky bass drum sound, then your search is over. I have this on my 20x20 bass w/an Evans EMAD 2, and I use a wooden Iron Cobra beater, this sounds JUST like a triggered bass drum. Takes a little bit to get used to the bounce back of the beaters, but I've actually found its easier to do doubles and such with this on. Despite the negative comments about the adhesive, the thing is STUCK on my head, it won't come off even if I pull at it. Also, there IS a metal disc on the inside. GET IT!

I use two of these on my set up and they are awesome, but don't confuse them with the sound of a triggered bass drum, to get that super clicky sound you have to mess with electronics. This is a great starting point for sound though. Very durable, the adhesive gave me some trouble getting it on there but once I stuck it on good it has stayed (since oct 2008)There's no metal inside these things.

This is the best single patch I've used. I beat this for a year and a half. Had to retire it recently. Not due to failure though, but because I bought a double pedal. It had a lot of life left in it. This patch did it's job, and did it so well. Good surface and great adhesive back. Don't let anyone tell you different.

As far as the pad itself, the click is very defined and solid. My only grievance is that the adhesive on the back seemingly failed me. I have the darn thing held to my bass drum with duct tape, lol.I don't know what happened, really, but the point is this is probably the best click pad out there. At least single bass.

I dont think that they emphisise punch enough..... this sounds like a perfect click if you use plastic beaters. Sounds like a triggered bass rum. AMAZING
