Comments about Gretsch Drums Blackhawk 5-Piece Fusion Drum Set with Sabian Cymbals:

I am very happy I bought this kit, especially since I only paid a little over half the usual price for it (Stupid Deal of the Day). I have been playing music for about 14 years, but I am just now learning drums. As stated above, the toms tend to ring a lot, although it may just be that I haven't tuned them correctly. I am very pleased with the Sabian cymbals; more experienced players may or may not agree. The hardware seems to be heavy and well-built. The throne is very basic, but comfortable and sturdy enough. The kit looks amazing, although there were a couple of small blemishes on mine. Some of the chroming seems to be a little lumpy, and on one of the kick hoops, the black plastic covering had a small flaw.

As for shipping, I ordered this kit on a Saturday and it arrived the following Wednesday. I live in Texas, and it was shipped from Kansas via UPS.

Overall, this was a great deal. At the regular price, it's still a great value, but I would hold out to find it on sale.

            Not too shabby...

Comments about Gretsch Drums Blackhawk 5-Piece Fusion Drum Set with Sabian Cymbals:

Overall, a great starter-intermediate kit. Packs up easy, sounds and looks good. Definitely recommend this kit for anyone looking to learn and develop some skills affordably. If you play jazz or soft, mellow music, you may have no problems at all with things breaking. Make no mistake, this is a good kit, but they saved $ on the hardware. Overall, I'M A FAN!
Easy removal and install of toms are cool feature. Nice looking with black Ambassadors on the bottoms.
I've been playing for almost a year. I bought this set after playing on a friends kit for the first few months. He had an old Tama, big shells, nice enough. I read a lot of reviews for all the sets available in the price range I could afford as a beginning drummer. I play aggresivel and hard, fast punk rock. I'm a musician, so I took to the drums instantly, and I beat the hell out of my drums. Having said that... The sound is pretty good, but if you buy this set, I'd recommend replacing the skins first thing, (Evans, or Remo's) Also, I broke the kick pedal in 3 weeks (sheared the screw that holds the chain). I replaced that with an Iron Cobra double pedal (ablsolutely bomb proof pedal, tough as hell). The hardware is cheap. The snare stand broke after 4 mos. but I replaced that with a Pearl S900. I added a Zildian 18" crash and some gel dampeners. I just played 3 shows in a row and my set sounded pretty sick. It's good for the money, now I am just hoping the other stands hold up while I save my pennies.
The shells are pretty good quality, low end, but Gretsch, so still nice. I am happy with this as a starter kit while I develop. I have a ways to go and for the money, I have a nice set I can gig with. As I said, the skins, kick pedal and some hardware will need to be replaced. But that is all pretty minimal stuff. I got this on sale so it was much cheaper than it is now. I caught this set at the right time, with a sale and a coupon, shipped to my house for a bit cheaper than currently listed though, so replacing some things has been ok with me. I plan on slowly replacing the pieces of this kit with nicer stuff over time.

            Excellent Bang For The Buck

Comments about Gretsch Drums Blackhawk 5-Piece Fusion Drum Set with Sabian Cymbals:

I was skeptical at first when I noticed everything bundled into the purchase. This is definitely a great practice kit. This kit could satisfy a beginner to a gigging amateur. Overall: Wow.
            Solid hardware.
May want to throw a pillow in the bass drum and dampen the toms with a little duct tape.
The price is phenomenal for a complete kit.

            Great kit, needs heads

            By Ronald Penna

            from Rochester, NY

Comments about Gretsch Drums Blackhawk 5-Piece Fusion Drum Set with Sabian Cymbals:

All 3 of the Gretsch kits come with everything you need to get started. The difference between the Fusion, Standard and Euro kits have to do with the sizes of the floor tom and bass drums. The kit came with a throne, cymbals, stands, and a hi hat. The only other thing you need to get started are some sticks. It truly is a complete kit.

That being said, the heads suck, which is acceptable because of the low price of this kit. I put a hole in the snare head the first day with a very light hit. I also thought the bass and the toms sounded very hollow.

I decided to order a complete set of remo pinstripe heads and a powerstroke head for the bass drum. These heads took this kit from good to fantastic. If you're a beginner or an intermediate drummer and money is an issue, you will be pleased this kit with the addition of some heads.
